BASIC FUNCTION:
As a member of the Management Staff, The Director of Surgical Services participates in formulation of policy, in organization of procedures essential to the achievement of objectives, and in development and evaluation of programs and services. The Director is responsible for the development of nursing policies for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating knowledge and practice activities of nursing service staff. The Director is accountable for fostering the participation of nursing staff in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of practice to provide safe, efficient and effective nursing care. The Director of Surgical is responsible for administrative planning, organizing, directing and managing the resources, daily operations, and patient care activities for multiple departments/service lines on a twenty-four (24) hour basis. Departments of responsibility include the Perioperative Clinic (PC), Same Day Surgery, Operating Room, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Endoscopy, and Central Sterile Processing (CSP) Departments.
