UTSW is seeking a Community Outreach Specialist to join the Moncrief Cancer Institute. This position works under close supervision to provide administrative functions to support the day-to-day operations of the community outreach function in the dept department. In this role, you will maintain community data for catchment area and assist in the development and/or promotion of various projects that further the mission of reducing health disparities via community outreach and engagement. Additionally, you will perform administrative functions to support departmental community outreach and engagement efforts. Duties include but not limited to procurement of materials and supplies, timekeeping, responsibility for meeting logistics, daily support of community inquires, and expense tracking. You will also maintain community data and contact information for catchment area and be responsible for development of tracking systems for community outreach as well as ongoing maintenance and metrics. You will deliver informational/educational programs for patients, family members, and/or the public and assist in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships. Minimum Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Capable of prioritizing multiple projects with strong attention to detail, accuracy and deadlines. Possess strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written/verbal communication/presentation skills. Professional appearance and demeanor. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Powerpoint. Knowledge of community health issues related to cancer prevention, screening, treatment and survivorship is preferred.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in general office area. Be able to travel within the North Texas region. Ability to attend evening and weekend events.
