Library Assistant/Community Outreach (Summer Only)

  • This position provides excellent customer service and information assistance to the public, primarily in the areas of community outreach and PR & Marketing; assists with library promotional materials; prepares and implements programs and outreach activities for all ages; delivers, picks-up and transfers library materials on a set outreach schedule; attends community outreach events; performs general clerical functions; and performs various other duties as assigned.
     
    Position could be scheduled to work at any library facility as well as off-site locations. Schedules will fluctuate due to the needs of the position.
     
    Summer Only (June 10, 2024 - August 9, 2024)

    Part-time (20 hours/week)


     
    • Creates a welcoming experience by greeting every patron and giving excellent customer in all environments.
    • Prepares and implements library programming for all ages and diverse backgrounds based on the needs of the community.
    • Engages in meaningful conversations with patrons about library services, products, and events.
    • Participates in library PR & Marketing efforts.
    • Assists with scheduling and participates in community outreach events.
    • Drives Library Outreach vehicle according to a predetermined schedule.
    • Assists with the creation and distribution of library promotional materials.
    • Monitors and helps to maintain social media presence.
    • Performs public service desk duties as scheduled.
    • Stays up-to-date with library technology, policies, and procedures.
    • Assist with statistical data entry for department regarding outreach efforts.
    • Demonstrates commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the library.
    • Helps to maintain a neat and tidy outreach space and vehicle.
    • As part of a dynamic library team, shares ideas including at department or committee meetings.
    • May assist activities of library volunteers assigned to Community Outreach.
    Associate's Degree or equivalent from an accredited school in a relevant field, such as marketing, public relations, or education with (4) four years of experience working and speaking with public, creating marketing materials, and effectively utilizing social media.  Library experience preferred but not required.  Must have a good driving record with no accidents or citations for major violations within the last five (5) years.
