Position Title: Durant Children's Center Military Outreach Coordinator

Classification Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: DCC Military Partnership Program Coordinator

Our Work: Established in 1986, Pee Dee Coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing sexual assault, family violence, and child abuse and to the needs of victims. The organization serves the seven-county Pee Dee Region of SC, including Florence, Darlington, Marion, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Dillon, and Williamsburg Counties. In addition, the Durant Children’s Center also serves Sumter County.

Job Summary: As a Military Outreach Coordinator for a Child Advocacy Center, the MOC role is to enhance services and support for military-connected victims. The primary responsibility is to establish and maintain collaborative relationships between the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and military partners. By doing so, it ensures that the unique needs of military-connected victims are met effectively.

General Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with military partners
• Provide training and education to military personnel on services and intervention
• Coordinate outreach events and activities to raise awareness about the services of the Child Advocacy Center
• Support military-connected victims and their families by providing information, resources, and referrals
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support for military-connected victims
• Stay informed about current research, best practices, and policies related to child abuse prevention and intervention
• Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and services provided
• Engage in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Experience working with military personnel, military families, or military organizations
• Knowledge of child abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment practices
• Familiarity with the unique challenges faced by military-connected victims
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in using technology and software for documentation and reporting
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Sensitivity to cultural and diversity issues
• Commitment to the mission and values of the Child Advocacy Center

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ø Fundamental knowledge of family violence, sexual assault, and child abuse.

Ø Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ø Have a good driving record (verified by DMV reports at the time of hire), a reliable vehicle, and proof of liability insurance.

Ø Ability to analyze information and recognize problems or errors.

Ø Excellent people skills for utilization with staff, volunteers, and individuals outside the organization.

Classification:

This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is subject to all overtime rules.
