    Position Summary:

    As the Digital Engagement and Community Relations Manager, your primary focus will be increasing brand awareness, engaging target audiences, and driving meaningful interactions across our digital channels: Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE), Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut (PPV!CT), and Planned Parenthood Votes! Rhode Island (PPV!RI). An average day could look like managing social media engagement, ensuring impactful event marketing, enhancing brand awareness, monitoring inboxes, or fostering community growth. Additionally, you'll play a pivotal role in coordinating inventory and processes related to branded marketing materials and swag, contributing to the overall success of Planned Parenthood's digital presence and community relations efforts.

    Job Responsibilities
    • Monitors, engages, and responds to PPSNE social interactions, collaborating with stakeholders as needed, to uphold the organization's brand and foster engagement
    • Builds and curates a robust community of highly effective influencers to act as ambassadors for the organization broadly and/or for specific organizational campaigns and initiatives
    • Participates in the content creation and posting for all social channels
    • Manages the social media email inbox, responding to or redirecting emails as needed to maintain efficient communication channels
    • Supports PPV!CT and PPV!RI social media content and engagement
    • Recommends new social media tools, trends and applications to enhance engagement
    • Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of key external partners to engage and strengthen connections with them on digital channels
    • Works with Communications, Brand and Marketing (CBM) colleagues to develop an annual social media strategy for each organization (PPSNE, PPV!CT and PPV!RI) and execute
    • Follows state legislative session activities in Connecticut and Rhode Island to support the Public Policy, Advocacy, and Organizing (PPAO) team’s social media engagement in support of the organization’s public policy goals and legislative priorities
    • Attends in-person events across Connecticut and Rhode Island such as policy hearings, advocacy lobbying days, speeches, rallies, press conferences, fundraisers, or community events to run and/or assist with live-streaming and real-time social media engagement activities
    • Assists in the management of digital events, webinars, and community-based online fundraising campaigns, including promotion, registration, and post-event follow-up
    • Participates in an on-call weekend schedule for organizational social media coverage, and cross-trains in other CBM department needs to provide back-up support
    • Responds to or engages with digital commentary about PPSNE as appropriate to enhance public awareness of the organization’s mission and services
    • Reports any violent or threatening digital commentary to PPSNE’s Director of Security
    • Organizes PPSNE’s participation in community events for marketing and outreach purposes, including health fairs, festivals, and other community-based events, as well as conferences, seminars, workshops and panel discussions on issues relevant to PPSNE’s mission and business
    • Works with other PPSNE staff across all departments to provide event-appropriate staffing and coordinate logistics, including transportation, materials, games, and giveaways
    • Publicizes PPSNE’s participation in community outreach activities through social media channels
    • Establishes and evaluates metrics to assess the impact of digital and community marketing programs, providing regular reports and recommendations to support ongoing growth
    • Orders, tracks, and maintains an inventory of promotional “swag” items for use at community events and other community outreach engagements
    • Assists program staff with design and ordering of program-specific swag, such as for PPSNE’s youth development programs, fundraising events, etc.
    • Updates and maintains files for organization letterhead, logos, and other key brand assets
    • Serves as a point-of-contact for PPSNE staff who need assistance accessing PPSNE’s external printing portal system
    • Fosters and maintains positive relationships with promotional item vendors
    • Codes and submits invoices for marketing supply orders for supervisor approval


    Essential Qualifications
    • Proven ability to effectively manage large social accounts and represent a brand with little oversight
    • Proficiency in social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and YouTube, with a solid understanding of current best practices and industry trends
    • Rock-solid communicator able to effectively share with, listen to, and offer insight and support to diverse internal groups
    • Proactive self-starter with strong project management skills, adept at moving projects forward by setting clear goals, establishing timelines, managing stakeholder expectations and communications, and ensuring the timely achievement of key milestones and deliverables
    • Experience in planning public events, activations, community building, and event marketing
    • Demonstrate an ability to receive strategic direction and adapt for use across multiple social media platforms
    • A passion for reproductive health and advocacy, aligning with the values and mission of Planned Parenthood
    • Interested in expanding your analysis and knowledge about the role that racial inequity plays in our society, and are committed to building and/or deepening your commitment to racial equity in your work
    • Is aware of multiple group identities and their dynamics, and brings a high level of self-awareness, empathy, and humility to interpersonal interactions
