Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national practice, seeks a Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant to join our Buffalo or Rochester office.
Job Description:
- The ability to type approximately 65 – 75 words per minute.
- Familiarity with electronic filing in Federal and State Court.
- Types general correspondence, memorandum and complex legal documents according to the requirements set by each practice group.
- Transcribes dictation tapes (letters, memos of law, motions and briefs).
- Proofreads documents and checks for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar.
- Prepares check requests for processing with appropriate backup and timely submission to accounting for payment.
- Types and coordinates expense reports.
- Enters and edits the attorney’s time into the timekeeping system within deadlines as required.
- Maintains attorney(s’) appointment calendar.
- Maintains files in an efficient and effective manner.
- Prepares and updates attorney case lists.
- Prepare materials for distribution via U.S. mail, fax, courier, messenger, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of client information in accordance with the firm policies.
- Interacts professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff and other representatives outside of the firm.
- Ability to handle pressure, interruptions and multiple projects with frequently changing priorities and deadlines.
Requirements/Skills:
- Ideal candidate should be motivated with the goal of becoming a long term asset within the organization.
- 1-5 years of Workers' Compensation experience. Entry level candidates may be considered.
- Experience with E-file, calendaring and docketing deadlines.
- Exceptional organization skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
Benefits:
This role offers an hourly salary and bonus opportunity. The salary range for this position is $19 to $21.50. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law. This position also offers a full benefits package.
