    The mission of the USASOC Science & Technology Division is to discover, facilitate development and transition technology to provide a sustained competitive advantage to ARSOF formations.

    This position will involve a wide range of technical analysis duties within a fast paced, multi-tasking military organization. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work within a highly motivated, success-oriented team focused on the rapid development and evaluation of emerging technologies to address the operational requirements of the Army Special Operations Force. Critical characteristics include self-motivation, ability to work independently, professional communications, attention to detail, ability to follow through, and an affinity for change. Heavy emphasis will be placed on relationship development within Department of Defense and Government agencies, academia, and industry. Regular travel will be required – up to 25%.

    Job Description:

    This position will be responsible for advising the US Army Special Operations Command Force Modernization Center (UFMC), Science and Technology Division personnel on emerging or disruptive technology developments relevant to the Army Special Operations Force, and providing project management support for technology development initiatives. A successful candidate will demonstrate breadth of knowledge across multiple technical domains, the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of ARSOF personnel (from enlisted personnel to General officers), self-motivation and the ability to work without direct supervision, and the ability to respond to short suspense tasks. Specific duties and responsibilities will include:

    1. Research and identification of technology trends that could present either opportunities or challenges for ARSOF warfighting capacity within a 5 to 10 year time horizon.

    2. Establishing collaborative relationships with technology providers including academia, industry, and Government organizations.

    3. Provide general support to Government S&T project managers.

    4. Review and analysis of project documents including technical approaches, work breakdown structures, cost proposals, schedules, technical risks, and assessment strategies.

    5. Review and analysis of proposed technologies to assess technical feasibility and operational appropriateness.

    6. Draft and review statements of work for S&T project acquisition initiatives.

    7. Prepare documentation and maintain configuration control of performance parameters for technologies addressing Warfighter requirements.

    8. Provide project management administrative support to include preparation of project status reports and presentations, review of cost and schedule performance reports, review of test reports, and organization and facilitation of project working groups.

    9. Prepare presentations and attend meetings. Document meeting results.

    10. Provide S&T project technical support to include identification of potential technical solutions based on an understanding of ARSOF missions and requirements, perform analysis of alternatives, and perform functional trade-offs.

    11. Prepare project documentation to include nomination packages, management plans and schedules, spend plans, assessment strategies, and transition recommendations.

    12. Develop assessment strategies for the rapid evaluation of S&T projects. Identify critical operational issues associated with new technologies. Draft evaluation documents including Integrated Assessment plans, surveys, and evaluation reports.

    Abilities and Skills:

    1. Proven written and oral communication skills.

    2. Expert in commercial office automation software including MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and relevant engineering software tools usage.

    3. Proficient in project management software usage.

    4. Skilled in administrative procedures, including professional communications, filing, and use of forms.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $45,859.28 - $115,000.00 per year
