Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     • Work directly with the Head of Compensation to develop and implement compensation strategies designed to deliver a total compensation package that is internally aligned to business area objectives and market competitive.
    • Evaluate effectiveness of existing compensation programs and recommend changes to maximize their effectiveness.
    • Analyze market data to assess competitive position and make appropriate recommendations.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert to HR leaders and business leaders for compensation requests. Influence and educate on compensation matters.
    • Manage and develop a team of compensation professionals.
    • Manage compensation projects working with Human Resource partners and business leaders.
    • Maintain our Market Pricing Tool and drive reporting and utilization efficiencies.
    • Manage salary survey submission process and assist with completion.
    • Ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business or related required. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
    • Minimum 5 years of Compensation experience including experience managing and developing a team of professionals.
    • Prior experience developing and implementing job architecture and salary ranges.
    • Experience developing and communicating compensation programs, policies, and processes.
    • Strong analytical skills and comfort with analyzing data to create and present meaningful, understandable models, reports, metrics and recommendations.
    • Advanced Excel expertise.
    • Experience with Pay Factors or other market pricing tools.
    • Incentive Compensation design experience helpful.
    • Experience with equity programs helpful.
    • Ability to travel 10%.
    • Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills.
