Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • Our client is currently accepting applications to fill the position of a Compensation Specialist at its Huntsville, Alabama facility.

    Description:

    • Establish strong team member relations, at all levels and provide support for people development, coaching and mentoring with a focus on teamwork and inclusion

    • Collaborate with international team members or other customers

    • Collect and analyze data from market-based compensation surveys, use spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and determine market trends.

    • Design, implement, and administer compensation and benefit programs

    • Develop a consistent compensation philosophy in line with work culture and organizational objectives

    • Ensure that compensation and benefit programs are 100% legally compliant, competitive, and support business objectives

    • Support business objectives through continuous evaluation and implementation of comprehensive strategies that enable the company to recruit, retain and engage team members at all levels of the organization

    • Monitor, measure, analyze and support all compensation program activities with continuous improvement (Kaizen) in mind

    • Manage outsourced vendor relationships and complete appropriate problem solving and performance measurement to achieve plan administration compliance

    • Prepare and deliver management and team member communications along with executive summaries of plan performance and demographic metrics

    • Complete ad hoc requests or special projects as directed

    • Collaborate effectively across all internal teams to ensure effective support for and input from team members at all levels of the organization

    • Participate in salary and hourly labor market surveys to determine prevailing pay rates and benefits

    • Serve as a communication window regarding significant compensation and benefit issues

    • Performs other related duties as assigned by the department

    • Ability to work outside of typical business hours and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    • 3 years of relevant experience

    • ERISA knowledge

    • Understanding of laws and regulations governing labor relations, employee treatment and wage and hours (ADA, EEOC, FMLA, OSHA, etc.)

    • Proficiency with mathematical and statistical application analysis tools

    • Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with upper management

    • Ability to handle and maintain highly confidential information

    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products

    Must Haves:

    - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or related field

    - 3 years of relevant experience with compensation and HRIS Systems (Workday, SAP, Peoplesoft, ADP)

    -Automotive industry experience

    - Be able to do research and analysis of market data and trends.

    - Experience leading efforts around market pricing, annual compensation cycles, compensation plan/structure design, and survey submissions

    - Know how to look at data points and make decisions based on them.

    - Must be able to organize data in a meaningful way. The ability to distill large and complex data sets into digestible, relevant points supporting recommendations.

    - Analytical, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are vital to this position.

    - Knowledge of current laws and regulations related to compensation.

    - Advanced Excel skills
