Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.       Position Summary:
      This position ensures departmental goals are met and the District is in compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements by accurately creating, uploading and maintaining salary schedules and steps. This position will also update salaries in the accounting software for Professional Technical and Administrator raises which have been approved by the Oklahoma City Public Schools Board of Education. This position will also review Personnel Subareas, schedules and steps and upload recurring stipends. This position will work closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure system data is in compliance with all set standards. During payroll processing the compensation specialist analyzes payroll reports and payment discrepancies to determine the underlying cause. This analysis includes many facets of payroll/master data, including but not limited to time entry, SAP employee master data records and additional payments. This position will also identify employee overpayments and work to recoup monies due the District. This position interfaces with all levels of employees and unions to answer detailed compensation and payroll questions. Customer service is an integral part of the Compensation Specialist position.

      Qualifications:
      • Education:
        • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field or equivalent experience required. **
      • Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Licenses:
        • Experience working in an analytical payroll/business field, including processing and managing large numbers of employees with different pay structures.
        • Excellent Excel knowledge with the ability to download, format and analyze data.
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
        • Ability to multi-task, analyze and prioritize multiple items with mandated deadlines.
        • Ability to work in a highly stressful environment with rigid deadlines while maintaining continual data changes.
        • Ability to read and interpret legal documents accurately.

      ** Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio, i.e.2 years of relevant experience may be substituted for 1 year of college.

      • Experience:
        • Computer experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel required. SAP experience preferred.
        • Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
        • Excellent professional communication skills required.
      • Physical Requirements:
        • 25 lbs. lifting, 25 lbs. pushing/pulling, bending, stooping and squatting

      Responsibilities:
      • Create and upload accurate salary schedules and steps into SAP.
      • Identify and analyze employee overpayment. Work with the Legal department to recoup identified overpayments within specified parameters.
      • Create and upload recurring stipends.
      • Analyze payroll processing reports for variances and research discrepancies. Process flow/ problem solving are key elements of this function.
      • Maintain detailed files for all employee overpayments.
      • Upload/input stipend payments and maintain accurate electronic files for supporting documentation.
      • Maintain good Customer Service relationships (both external and internal customers) by responding promptly and courteously to customer needs and expectations.
      • Develop interpersonal relationships by building productive rapport with employees at all levels within and outside the department. All employees are treated with fairness, dignity and respect.
      • Utilize teamwork by working collaboratively with fellow employees and others to achieve identified goals and objectives.
      • Show flexibility to adjust performance to accommodate changes in departmental direction and processes.
      • Demonstrate dependability by consistently working set work schedule.
      • Use clear and appropriate language in all communications.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.
