Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Workers Compensation Claims Examiner

  • Position Summary:

    The role of the Worker’s Compensation Examiner is to investigate, evaluate, oversee, and resolve workers’ compensation claims for associate’s injured on the job. Monitor and manage Penske’s Third Party Administrators (TPA) for proper handling, reserving and compliance with the return to work program. Work with HR, Safety, Operations and Maintenance teams while remaining cognizant of state, provincial, and federal laws.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Review initial Associate injury report to determine if referral to TPA/ Insurer is needed.
    • Assist location by directing investigation to ensure that accident scenes are secured.
    • Coordinate communication with HR, Safety, Operations, and Maintenance as needed.
    • Monitor TPA’s compliance with claim handling procedures including: nurse case management, return to work, counsel assignments, and reserving.
    • Determine if OSHA Notice is required.
    • Document, record, and produce OSHA logs.
    • Manage and report on internal compliance with return to work program.
    • Act as a liaison to injured associate when claims issues arise.
    • Coordinate and manage claim review and audit process with TPA’s.
    • Respond to Discovery requests for Litigated claims.
    • Participate in settlement conferences, mediations & hearings as needed.
    • Responsible for monthly reports and special projects as assigned by Manager.
    • Identification and implementation of process improvement using LEAN techniques.
    • Other projects as assigned by the supervisor

    Qualifications:

    • 3-5 years’ experience in workers' compensation claims or related field.
    • High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-Motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
    • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to make fact based decisions in a timely manner.
    • Ability to train/educate others either in person, over the phone, or using webinars
    • Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, RMIS, Workflow systems, and Internet research.
    • Ability to multitask required.
    • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
    • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
