Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Position Summary

    The Director of Compensation & Benefits plays a vital role in ensuring that ECPI University’s compensation and benefits programs attract, retain, and motivate top talent while aligning with the University's overall mission and goals. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing compensation structures and benefits programs that support our employees' well-being and contribute to our success.

    The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent customer support skills, experience administering self-funded health plans, and a thorough understanding of regulations related to employee compensation and benefits.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive compensation and benefits strategy that supports the University’s objectives and positions us competitively in the market.
    • Conduct regular analysis of compensation data, market trends, and benchmarking to ensure our compensation and benefit packages remain competitive and equitable.
    • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, wellness programs, and other perks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and cost-effectiveness.
    • Manage annual employee enrollment in all benefit plans, ensuring eligible employees are offered enrollment in a timely manner throughout the year in compliance with applicable plan and ACA regulations.
    • Coordinate with health brokers/advisors, plan administrators, and benefit plan providers to ensure seamless administration of benefit programs.
    • Ensure timely and accurate billing and payment processes; coordinate filing of 5500s and plan audits as needed, including annual 401(k) plan audit.
    • Develop and deploy communication to educate employees about available benefits, eligibility criteria, and enrollment procedures.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee and third-party vendor inquiries and surveys related to compensation and benefits.
    • Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and leadership teams to design and implement benefit plans that meet the diverse needs of our workforce while managing costs and optimizing value.
    • Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations related to compensation and benefits, ensuring our programs remain compliant and mitigate legal risks.
    • Maintain accurate records of compensation and benefits data, generate regular reports, and provide insights to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
    • Collaborate with HR, finance, and executive teams to align compensation and benefits programs with University’s goals, budgetary constraints, and talent acquisition strategies.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, finance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in compensation and benefits administration with a multi-state employer.
    • Certification such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) is a plus.

     

    Skills/Abilities

    • Proficiency in HRIS systems- UKG experience a plus!
    • Strong understanding of employee compensation and benefits regulations, including DOL, HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA, ACA, and state regulations.
    • In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits principles, practices, and regulations.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, conduct market analysis, and make data-driven recommendations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, managers, and external partners.
    • Proficiency in BI and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
