Compensation and Benefits Director manages the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures that compensation and benefits programs support the organization's business objectives and meet all legal requirements. Being a Compensation and Benefits Director develops and manages compensation and benefits budgets. Oversees compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis. Additionally, Compensation and Benefits Director manages benefits planning and programs including health and welfare, retirement, and work life. May select and manage outsourced providers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Compensation and Benefits Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation and Benefits Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     PURPOSE OF ROLE

    The primary purpose of this role is to manage the full lifecycle of base salary, variable compensation, and incentive compensation programs for retail stores, distribution centers, and corporate employees in order to ensure competitiveness to market. This includes responsibility for defining metrics, creating plan documents, working with accounting on forecasting/accruals, communicating plan documents, and calculating pay. This role is critical to Lowe's as it gives guidance, direction, and advice on many of the work activities affecting employee engagement, retention, and the long-term success of Lowe's.

    RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENTS

    • Implements Lowe's compensation strategy so that outcomes meet current and future business needs and are consistent with Lowe’s desired internal and external market position
    • Develops a robust point of view on how to overcome challenges with streamlining programs or make them more efficient
    • Synthesizes higher level information into more practical terms to translate value from an Enterprise perspective
    • Design and implement compensation programs to meet objectives with regard to internal equity and external market competitiveness
    • Manages relationships with consultants and suppliers to ensure satisfactory standards of service
    • Ensures programs are implemented effectively, within established budgets and complies with all relevant regulations, laws and employment standards
    • Serves as a backup to Director roles and represents Lowe's at external conferences
    • Mentors junior team members by openly sharing information, advice, and expertise to solve business problems

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, or related field    
    • 6 years of experience in Compensation in a retail corporate environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience dealing with confidential information. Experience training/mentoring individual team members.

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Master's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Accounting, or related field        
    • 7-8 years of experience working in a compensation environment. Knowledge of Lowe's stores and corporate processes. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation. Experience managing others in a team environment.

    Pay Range for CA, CO, HI, NJ, NY, WA: $95,500.00 - $159,200.00 annually
