Compensation and Benefits Supervisor leads a team in developing, implementing, communicating, and administering compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Supervises daily compensation and benefit operations including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis, planning for health and welfare, retirement, and work life benefits. Being a Compensation and Benefits Supervisor coordinates with outsourced providers. May provide customer support to managers and staff with compensation or benefits questions. Additionally, Compensation and Benefits Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Compensation and Benefits Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Compensation and Benefits Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     The Patients Account / Benefits Supervisor is responsible for supervising a small team of paraprofessionals. The Patient Accounts /Benefits Supervisor contributes to the development of processes and procedures to enhance revenue production. The Patient Accounts /Benefits Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring financials being completed, ensuring complete continuity of accuracy, staff productivity, and efficiency in the flow of accounts. The supervisor will work closely with the billing staff to ensure patient accounts are updated as necessary to reflect insurance changes and will assist the billing staff with any reimbursement issues. The Patient Accounts/Benefits Supervisor will also perform claims processing and reimbursement tasks. Which include but are not limited to determining eligibility, rates, maintenance of accounts and collection of charges for the support, maintenance and treatment furnished to clients and/or persons responsible for clients. Performs other duties required as the Medicaid Administrative Claiming Coordinator. (Medicaid Administrative Claiming duties are supervised by the Chief Financial Officer.) Other duties include conducting financial consumer assessments; assembly and filing of information required by the Social Security application; monitoring Social Security applications and appeals process; maintaining close follow-up with consumers’ Social Security Administration; and other involved service providers as necessary.

     

    The Patient Accounts /Benefits Supervisor ensures that Audit Files are established,  current, and maintained by conducting periodic audits. The supervisor will also be responsible for developing guidelines for establishing and maintaining supporting documentation and agency-wide Audit Files that are consistent with procedures outlined by TDMHMR. Other duties include but are not limited to:

    • Reviews patient's chart for necessary documents for claims processing.
    • Reviews client data system set-up for accurate patient insurance coverage information.
    • Assists patients and/or person legally responsible for patient with establishing an approved payment schedule.
    • Sends correspondence and communicates verbally with patients and/or person legally responsible for patient information necessary to collect payment or notice of rate change.
    • Contacts third party private insurance carriers to determine the Center's provider status as a network or non-network. Ensures that carrier will cover services and/or treatment prior to service and/or treatment being provided. Obtains authorizations as needed.
    • Receives and reviews past due bills and follow-up documents; contacts patients and/or third-party payer organizations to secure payments or arrange alternative settlement plans; identifies problem delinquencies and recommends their disposition; prepares and maintains collection-related records.
    • Discusses financial matters concerning balances offering financial arrangements to patients upon admission, as well as outstanding balances upon discharge.
    • Assist CFO in policy & procedure maintenance to ensure MHMR is adaptable to changes as determined by various funding sources and requirements such as Charity Care.

     

     

     

    The Patient Accounts /Benefits Supervisor will be responsible for staff training and productivity as follows:

    • Responsible for identifying training needs among staff and contractors.
    • Ensures that training is provided to maintain compliance with the procedures established in the current Medicaid Administrative Claiming Guide.
    • Encourages interdepartmental coordination and cooperation to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Responsible for disseminating policy or program information to all programs and contractors participating in MAC.
    • Clarifies policy, program or fiscal questions raised by staff or contractors; refers any requests for assistance to further clarification to TDMHMR.

     

     

    EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE

    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
    • Familiarity with claims processing and health related account and collection work.
    • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent required, supplemented by courses in business administration is preferred.
    • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
    • Two years of management experience preferred.
    • Prior experience in assisting individuals with mental health and/or mental retardation disabilities obtain SSI, Medicaid, Food Stamps, and in consumer eligibility assessment is preferred.

     

     

    ESSENTIAL TASKS

    • Demonstrates working knowledge of medical billings, third party reimbursement, Blue Cross, Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance coverage required; effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills to interact with providers, patients and insurance companies; displays basic knowledge of insurance verification processes; problem solving; organizational and time management skills; customer service oriented; skills in maintaining information as highly confidential, and strong computer skills.

    • Always maintains appropriate and professional relationship with Center staff.
    • Effectively follows instructions.
    • Must be flexible and willing to be mobile.
    • Must have transportation to be able to go to other locations throughout the day.

     

      

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Valid Texas Driver License required.
    • Must not have more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.
    • Must be insurable on the Center’s insurance.
    • Must be able to pass a background check.
    • Candidate must obtain HHSC Social Security Benefits Certification within 6 months of hire.

     

     

    SALARY

    DOE – Depends on Experience.

     

     

    SHIFT HOURS

    Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
