Compliance Analyst (Banking) jobs in Chicago, IL

Compliance Analyst (Banking) monitors customer accounts and researches transactions to identify suspicious activity violating current anti-money laundering (AML) regulations defined in the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) or other governmental anti-terrorist financing programs. Uses customer data mining and software tools to identify suspicious activity patterns. Being a Compliance Analyst (Banking) reviews daily Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) and Questionable Activity Reports (QAR), and submits Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) as appropriate. Ensures adherence to Know your Customer (KYC) protocols. Additionally, Compliance Analyst (Banking) may lead or participate in investigations of suspicious activity to pursue corrective actions and ensure completion of required filings. Keeps abreast with regulatory changes, risk management best practices, and trending methods used by fraud perpetrators. Delivers compliance training with up-to-date regulatory information and procedures to develop and guide a well-informed staff. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May have the Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Compliance Analyst (Banking) work is closely managed.     The HR Analyst reports to the Global Compliance Manager and is responsible for working closely with the Compliance Specialists to support the firm’s compliance program, global mobility program and HR-related DEI data needs.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Maintain compliance calendar.
    • Compile and create ongoing and ad-hoc compliance and DEI analyses from Sidley’s Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
    • Regularly update DEI data files and audit the accuracy of transactions across systems to ensure data integrity.
    • Assist in preparing AAPs and other government-mandated reporting (e.g. EEO-1, pay data reporting).
    • Draft expatriate packages for review as part of the firm’s global mobility program.
    • Prepare and collect information needed for policy and/or process changes in response to federal, state, and local laws.
    • Prepare materials for compliance updates and process change meetings.
    • Assist in supporting the firm’s compliance training program by coordinating timelines and preparing reports.
    • Complete various project work as necessary.

    Education and/or Experience: 

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint
    • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel

    Preferred:

    • A minimum of one year experience in an analytical or compliance-related field
