Compliance Analyst (Banking) monitors customer accounts and researches transactions to identify suspicious activity violating current anti-money laundering (AML) regulations defined in the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) or other governmental anti-terrorist financing programs. Uses customer data mining and software tools to identify suspicious activity patterns. Being a Compliance Analyst (Banking) reviews daily Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) and Questionable Activity Reports (QAR), and submits Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) as appropriate. Ensures adherence to Know your Customer (KYC) protocols. Additionally, Compliance Analyst (Banking) may lead or participate in investigations of suspicious activity to pursue corrective actions and ensure completion of required filings. Keeps abreast with regulatory changes, risk management best practices, and trending methods used by fraud perpetrators. Delivers compliance training with up-to-date regulatory information and procedures to develop and guide a well-informed staff. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May have the Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Compliance Analyst (Banking) work is closely managed.     About the Role

    We have a great opportunity for a Compliance Analyst to support our Asset Management team responsible for the company’s growing electrical transmission business.  This position serves as an administrator and coordinator for regulatory compliance affairs at LS Power. As the Compliance Analyst, you will support compliance across the organization and manage all documentation related to regulatory policies and procedures.  You will primarily report to the Senior Manager, Transmission Reliability Compliance, however you may be asked to support other business units including engineering, maintenance, operations, planning, legal, finance, and more.

    Responsibilities

    What you will do:

    • Control and manage regulatory, transmission policies and procedures including reports and work logs used for compliance evidence.
    • Assist the Compliance Manager with periodic reporting requirements to FERC, NERC and Regional Electric Reliability Organizations.
    • Maintain knowledge of Regional Operating Guides, Protocols, NERC Reliability Standards and other applicable regulatory rules as needed.
    • Maintain regulatory compliance procedures and related documentation.
    • Manage regulatory compliance procedure updates and departmental reviews as requested.
    • Provide logistical support of internal, external and mock audits.
    • Assist in the development of training materials in various aspects of the compliance program.
    • Support compliance and root cause investigations
    • Assist the Compliance Manager in preparing filings, policies, procedures and other documentation in support of the compliance functions.
    • Collaborate with the Risk Analyst to support the Internal Controls Testing Program
    • Support various compliance program meetings by developing meeting agendas and minutes.
    • Administer and maintain LS Power compliance monitoring and tracking software.
    • Type and proofread memos, letters, reports, contracts, specifications, procedures, policies, and related items.
    • Participate in NATF, NERC and Regional Entity webinars and face to face meetings

    Qualifications

    We want you on our team because you:

    • Hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or other relevant degree preferred
    • Have 0-5 years of experience, preferably in the electric utility, consulting, or contracting industry.
    • Pass a 7-year background check
    • Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project
    • Are able to work within the requirements of a regulated utility
    • Effectively manage multiple assignments occasionally under time constraints
    • Collaborate effectively with a diverse team
    • Are a solutions focused team player
    • Work independently with direction on a regular basis
    • Have the ability  to learn new software as necessary
    • Are comfortable with the occasional travel that may be required, approximately 10%
