Compliance Director (Banking) manages operations to identify and respond to suspicious activity violating current anti-money laundering (AML) regulations as defined in the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) or other governmental anti-terrorist financing programs. Implements oversight systems, interdiction software, and audit processes to perform daily transaction monitoring and identify suspicious activity patterns. Being a Compliance Director (Banking) monitors activity and ensures adherence to Know your Customer (KYC) protocols and regulatory requirements for required filings and reporting. Leads investigations of suspicious activity to pursue corrective actions and ensure completion of required filings. Additionally, Compliance Director (Banking) maintains extensive knowledge of financial regulations, risk management best practices, and changing fraudulent trends to develop and implement appropriate compliance procedures. Delivers compliance training with up-to-date regulatory information and procedures to develop and guide well-informed staff. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May have the Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification. Typically reports to a director. The Compliance Director (Banking) typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compliance Director (Banking) typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Job Description:

    Position Overview:

    Develop and communicate both Import and Export compliance programs within the company. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and training covering trade compliance in accordance with the OCEANAIR Inc. compliance program. Oversee special projects as they arise. Work closely with staff and clients to ensure success.

    Major Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Maintain and foster communications with government agencies who regulate our business.
    • Produce and maintain Import Compliance Manual that will be available to all employees.
    • Produce and maintain Export Compliance Manual that will be available to all employees.
    • Develop SOPs as they apply to the regulatory aspects of our import and export operations.
    • Maintain a response mechanism to handle all post-entry inquiries and requests for information.
    • Ensure an experienced and informed team by developing a cost-effective compliance training program for present and future employees including providing whatever tools may be necessary to accomplish this
    • Review and maintain up-to-date regulations and develop the best method to pass on new regulatory information.
    • Working with IT and Import Management, ensure all operating systems, files and databases are up-to-date an in strict compliance with all applicable regulatory documentation
    • Maintain personal CCS status and review the expansion of that program to other employees. Monitor present CCS members for maintaining required training.
    • Develop and maintain an auditing procedure to protect our customers and OCEANAIR from possible errors.
    • Develop the on-boarding process for new clients that will be adhered to by the company.
    • When possible, produce revenue or business activity working with sales and customers.
    • Develop a review process of our “notes” regarding customers to insure they are current, accurate and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Determine what regulatory issues or news should be brought to the attention of our customers via our communications resources such as website, broadcasts or specific communications to certain members of our importer database.
    • Provide certain data reports to management regarding the following specific tasks: a) number of audits per month b) number of entry rejects per period c) brief explanation of training per month d) Report compliance revenue e) Number of pea’s per month.
    • Collaborate with upper management and staff to provide a healthy, challenging, and positive work environment allowing for your team’s individual growth, achievement, and accomplishment consistent with the company's objectives.
    • Bring out the best of your team’s personnel by providing training, coaching, development, and motivation.
    • Promote a positive relationship with the client by ensuring excellent, timely and proactive customer service.
    • Be involved in the Interviewing and hiring of new employees for your department.
    • Enforce OCEANAIR Inc.’s company polies and procedures.
    • Present department goals, success, and challenges to the Executive team.
    • Collaborate with other department managers to ensure the profitability of the department, and the company.

    Skills & Qualifications:

    • 7 years’ experience in forwarding, logistic or distribution operations preferred.

    • Experience handling both Air freight, Ocean freight, and Customs Brokerage.

    • Experience and understanding of Import and Export processes and regulations.

    • Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to multitask.

    • Light work requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move throughout the premise.

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

    • Hazardous certification is preferred.

    • Strong numerical skills are required.

    • High attention to detail and sense of urgency.

    • High proficiency in Microsoft Office.


    Work Environment:
    • Work is performed in an office environment where there is no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Work requires close attention to tasks for work to be accurately completed. Intermitted breaks during the workday do not compromise the work. Work requires constant respond to changing circumstances and using new information to adjust approach and to quickly respond to new needs.

    • Sensory Essential Functions include close work, visual examination of paperwork, computer monitor and keyboard use, conversations, telephone and background noise.

    • Physical Requirements with reasonable accommodations. Light work requiring exerting up to 20 pounds if force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling. Job consists of sitting, standing, walking, squatting and twisting.
