      Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 17,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. Our District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 – 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

      What We Need: Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Superintendent of Operational Supports and Programs, the Director of Logistics and Compliance will be responsible for performing administrator duties necessary to ensure district-wide conformance with all operational regulatory requirements per Illinois School Code and School Board Policy, as well as enhance and develop protocols, procedures, and staff training for efficient logistical management throughout the District.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      1. Perform bi-annual audit of all District asset inventory in collaboration with the Business Office.
      2. Perform property appraisals for all District properties and maintain associated records.
      3. Create and maintain logistical distribution programs for all material and supply orders for both the operational and academic functions of the District.
      4. Coordination and facilitation of School Principals oversight of management of materials.
      5. Provide relevant staff training and support regarding inventory management.
      6. Research and compile information for Federal, State and District reports and special projects as assigned.
      7. Maintain comprehensive, accurate records and prepare reports and files including those of a confidential nature.
      8. Keep all Operations Department records up to date including but not limited to overtime, contractual obligations (such as prevailing wage, payment requests, warranties, etc) inventory, Life Safety, OSHA, grants, construction documents, manuals, blueprints, floor plans, and asbestos management.
      9. Maintains communications with all local fire and police Departments and other city, county, or state agencies.
      10. Serve as a member of the District's Emergency Management / Crisis Team.
      11. Perform ADA compliance audits annually based on building use and provide recommendations.
      12. Manage all aspects and implementation of the District's Risk Management plan.
      13. Coordinate two yearly inspections of school buildings with the local fire department and maintain all buildings according to existing fire codes.
      14. Coordinate Board policy review process for several Operational departments including Transportation, Wellness, Facility Use, Use of Vehicles, Inventory Control, Financial Control, and the like.
      15. Keep detailed records of ROE inspections, listed deficiencies, progress toward resolving deficiencies, and provide comprehensive reports on all resolved and unresolved deficiencies.
      16. Assist with records and file organization and storage for the Information Technology department, and other departments upon request and when appropriate.
      17. Prepare, duplicate and mail information and materials to parents, staff, administrators and community, educational, state, and federal organizations when appropriate.
      18. Order and maintain office supplies and other materials in a fiscally responsible manner.
      19. Assist Procurement Officer as needed.
      20. Provide recommendations for improved transportation logistics at all District facilities for student, staff, and visitor vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and coordinate with local and/or county regulatory agencies.
      21. Update interior and exterior signage throughout all District facilities to improve overall logistical movements and aesthetics, as well as ensure signage is ADA compliant. 22. Assist in all matters pertaining to budget management for supplies and materials, and other capital assets.
      23. Implements Board policies and state laws pertaining to the functions included in this job description.
      24. Communicate with District personnel and/or parents according to established guidelines, policies and procedures.
      25. Collaborate with other departments and serve as the lead coordinator for large District events including but not limited to: graduation, middle school promotion, regional athletic events, prom/homecoming related activities, etc.
      26. Assumes the responsibilities and other duties or specialized projects as may be assigned from time to time by the Deputy Superintendent of Operational Supports and Programs.

      Knowledge and Abilities

      Knowledge of

      1. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment usage.
      2. Proper record-keeping techniques.
      3. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
      4. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, courtesy and proper office etiquette.

      Ability to:

      9. Develop presentations and audio visual materials and newsletters.
      10. Independently compose correspondence and written materials.
      11. Perform specialized administrative actions in support of various program activities
      12. Utilize Microsoft Office Professional and Google Workspace in all aspects of job performance.
      13. Maintain strict confidentiality in handling and maintaining of sensitive department and District information.
      14. Manage assignments and competing priorities among multiple departments' needs.

      Qualifications:

      1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited University, Master's degree preferred
      2. Five years (minimum) Educational administrative experience
      3. Demonstrated extensive knowledge of policy/procedures review and development
      4. Demonstrated knowledge of ISBE, ROE, and USDOE reporting requirements
      5. Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically.
      6. Be able to successfully work in a collaborative environment.
      7. Able to mediate and resolve conflicts.
      8. Bilingual preferred, but not required.
      9. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups of all ages, backgrounds, and educational levels.
      10. Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations.
      11. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
      12. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
      13. Effective oral and written communication skills.
      14. Ability to maintain timely and accurate records.

      Work Environment: Busy office environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions. Support of Administrators in both the Operations and Academics divisions.

      Terms of Employment: Twelve months.
