Compliance Manager manages the compliance programs, policies, reporting, and practices for an organization or business. Ensures that all activities follow regulatory requirements related to the governance of the organization as well as any industry-specific or location-specific laws. Being a Compliance Manager oversees internal controls and auditing systems that monitor and report on regulated activities and processes. Implements risk-based compliance testing of existing procedures and controls to identify, detect, and correct noncompliance. Additionally, Compliance Manager evaluates and implements changes to compliance processes due to new or amended regulations. Delivers communication and training initiatives that inform stakeholders about compliance requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Compliance Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Compliance Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Commercial Compliance Advisory Manager will provide guidance and direction to Commercial line of business on the organization's Compliance program and serve as a trusted advisor to Commercial line of business leadership.
    This individual will report directly to the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer and act as the primary compliance contact for Commercial; and help guide the implementation of organization-wide compliance policies and procedures within Commercial.
    Job Responsibilities:
    Trusted business advisor
    • Serve as the primary compliance contact and trusted advisor to Commercial leadership on compliance-related matters and evaluate required escalation of those matters to Compliance leadership.
    • Provide guidance and ongoing support to Commercial on managing compliance risks and applying compliance requirements to new products and processes.
    • Assist Commercial in interpreting existing organization-wide compliance risk policies and procedures and provide support in the development of compliance procedures specific to Commercial.
    • Collaborate with other compliance advisory team members for different lines of business to drive consistency in compliance programs across the enterprise and ensure sharing of best practices.
    • Key participant and advisory support in risk assessment processes, including RCSA and Compliance Risk Assessment.
    Regulatory engagement and issue management
    • Support the Commercial leadership in understanding new and existing laws, rules, and regulations to determine requirements for various areas and changes that need to be implemented.
    • Ensure that Commercial has adequate policies, procedures, and processes in place to comply with relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
    • Track industry trends and best practices to anticipate future areas of focus for regulators and proactively communicate them to Commercial leadership.
    • Provide compliance expertise to support timely remediation of issues when identified within Commercial, including internal audit issues.
    • Participate in regulatory exams, internal audit reviews, and other forums as the compliance subject matter expert, assisting in addressing compliance-related questions and ensuring responses submitted are appropriate, accurate, and adequately address the request.
    Reporting and monitoring
    • Monitor Compliance key risk indicators (KRIs) for Commercial to identify emerging risks and areas that require escalation and remediation.
    • Develop presentations for senior management on the effectiveness of the compliance program in Commercial.
    Training
    • Partner with Commercial to identify specific compliance-related training needs and support the creation, revision, and review of training materials and tools.
    Leadership
    • Manage and develop compliance specialists supporting the Commercial business lines.

    Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or 4 years of relevant experience
    • 8 years of experience in banking regulatory compliance or related legal experience
    • 5 years of experience in Commercial compliance or comparable work experience
    • 5 years of experience in working with lines of business in interpreting and applying relevant laws and regulations to products and services
    Licences/Certifications:
    • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification or other applicable/relevant certifications or licenses helpful but not required
