Compliance Manager manages the compliance programs, policies, reporting, and practices for an organization or business. Ensures that all activities follow regulatory requirements related to the governance of the organization as well as any industry-specific or location-specific laws. Being a Compliance Manager oversees internal controls and auditing systems that monitor and report on regulated activities and processes. Implements risk-based compliance testing of existing procedures and controls to identify, detect, and correct noncompliance. Additionally, Compliance Manager evaluates and implements changes to compliance processes due to new or amended regulations. Delivers communication and training initiatives that inform stakeholders about compliance requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Compliance Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Compliance Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supervises and manages staff who are responsible for the Compliance department.
    • Develops, implements and manages operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives.
    • Creates effective and efficient schedules, while maintaining labor costs, meeting staffing objectives and achieving deadlines.
    • Assists in the budget process for the department and provide recommendations; ensuring compliance to departmental budget initiatives; reporting budget concerns to manager.
    • Responsible for assisting in the training, implementation, and enforcement of the property SARC/Title 31 and Responsible Gaming compliance programs.
    • Ensures compliance with reporting commitments required by the Corporate office and regulatory agencies.
    • Ensures adherence with Corporate-mandated compliance programs, including Responsible Gaming program, including conducting quarterly Responsible Gaming interviews and preparing status report regarding the Company’s Responsible Gaming program.
    • Serve as liaison to the Gaming/Lottery Commission/Board (place your Gaming jurisdiction’s name here) to ensure timely responses to incident reports; review and prepare draft responses to compliance-related issues raised.
    • Participates in preparation of annual license renewal submissions to (place your Gaming jurisdiction’s name here).
    • Provides training to new and existing staff as needed.
    • Work with company management and the (place Gaming jurisdiction’s name here) ensure that significant changes to the company’s operating environment (new facilities, system upgrades, gaming mix changes, etc.) are completed in accordance to (place Gaming jurisdiction’s name here) regulations.
    • Maintains organized set of detailed records and files to document transactions.
    • Works closely with department managers to ensure they have a thorough understanding of gaming regulations and general procedures.
    • Compiles reports for (place Gaming jurisdiction’s name) and submits necessary paperwork on behalf of the property, as needed.
    • Keeps property updated with latest gaming rules and regulation requirements.  Ensures property always complies.
    • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.  Ensures customer service standards are followed by all team members and addresses issues as they arise.  Responsible for the overall achievement of department customer service goals.  
    • Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to Executive Management / GM.\
    • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor's degree (B.A. /B.S.) in Business or related field from four-year college or university; two or more years’ experience in compliance or governmental affairs; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (World, Excel, and Outlook). Must have thorough knowledge of Casino Operations software and equipment.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required. Must have excellent organization and communication skills. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

     

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.Must obtain a First Aid/AED certification.  Must successfully complete C.A.R.E or TIPS training.
