Position Purpose
As the Manager, Materials, Logistics & Compliance, you will oversee warehousing and logistics operations and strategy. Managing a team of personnel, you will plan, organize, deploy, and control activities related to the business processes and systems for overall warehousing and distribution operations, including material receipt and delivery and warehousing. Utilizing internal resources and external service providers, you will coordinate the transportation/delivery of goods, both domestic and international, while ensuring compliance with U.S. and foreign governments’ regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction and day-to-day management for the Logistics, Materials and Compliance teams. Make staffing and organizational decisions and manage employee performance.
- Define logistics standards for DWFritz and its subsidiaries. Create process documentation, train staff and periodically audit to ensure compliance. Develop internal and external security controls to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations.
- Establish strong customer relationships by understanding their needs, frequently communicating progress and anticipating future requirements.
- Manage relationships with customs brokers and carriers. Act as a liaison with customs brokers and carriers to resolve problems at all points in transit.
- Evaluate and periodically reassess import/export options, including selection & performance management of carriers and third party logistics providers to ensure competitive cost and transit times.
- Determine shipment requirements and establish processes for shipment to DWF offices, customer/partner sites and third party warehousing providers. Coordinate with project teams to ensure that project needs are being met.
- Collaborate with business development & project management to define shipping terms and generate quotes.
- Coordinate shipments, both domestically and internationally, including transportation within Free Trade Zones.
- Research, identify, and champion ongoing improvements in the warehouse layout and material movements as well as cost reduction measures in all aspects of warehouse transactions and activities without adverse impact to the company’s overall objectives, or customer satisfaction.
- Conduct export and import compliance audits and implement necessary corrective actions.
- Manage internal cycle counts to ensure stock accuracy.
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure financial accuracy of inventories and compliance to financial audit standards.
- Define and manage material systems including VMI, Kanban, part obsolescence processes.
- Design, implement, manage, and monitor Warehouse and Logistics KPI reporting. Maximize usage of data to improve efficiency, automate processes and generate relevant metric driven reports.
- Manage retention of packing slips, commercial invoices, logs and files, including all relevant support documents, for movements of materials.
- Assure accuracy of shipping documentation through periodic audit and staff training.
- Track progress of shipments and provide delivery status updates to stakeholders.
- Ensures all warehouse operations adhere to industry safety protocols and comply with OSHA, or other governmental regulations.
- Initiate corrective actions as required to improve processes and address deficiencies encountered.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis in Supply Chain Management, Transportation and Logistics, International Business, or other relevant degrees required.
- ASCM or CPIM Certification, Lean, Six Sigma or other Warehouse/Logistics certification(s) preferred.
- 3 years’ International Freight Forwarding Experience.
- 5 years’ experience leading teams in a warehouse environment.
- Detailed knowledge of operational procedures regarding air, ocean, import/export business, domestic transportation.
- Detailed knowledge of materials / warehouse procedures FIFO/LIFO, cycle count, physical inventory, Kanban, VMI.
- Direct experience working in ERP/MRP systems and environments.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word & Excel, and other spreadsheet applications.
