    Job Title: Part-time Compliance Assistant

    Department: Compliance

    Reports To: VP/Compliance Officer

    FLSA Status: Non-exempt

    Summary/Purpose:

    Duties of this position will be to assist the Compliance Department in all areas of Regulatory Compliance as assigned to ensure adherence to bank policies and procedures that have been established to comply with federal and state laws and regulations.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform research and analyze relevant compliance related information to assist with the changes and updates required for loan and deposit policies, procedures, and processes to ensure adherence to federal and state banking regulations.
    • Assist in the dissemination of information to employees regarding regulatory compliance and act as a compliance resource to bank personnel.
    • Partner with the Compliance Officer in administering the bank’s internal training program.
    • Conduct accurate and objective regulatory compliance file reviews of lending origination and deposit account documentation which offers constructive recommendations for improving compliance with laws and regulations. Follow-up to ensure issues are resolved. Provide findings and recommendations to Compliance Officer.
    • Conduct monthly audits of consumer credit reports for legitimacy.
    • Assist with the review of all marketing and advertising for compliance with all appropriate regulations, as well as continual full bank website review for required compliance concerns, maintenance, and updates.
    • Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations by attending seminars requested by Compliance Officer and through self-education with provided materials.
    • Perform HMDA reviews of loan data to include reviewing loan reports and packets to determine qualifying transactions. Assist in comparing data to the Loan Application Register for accuracy in preparation for submission to the CFPB annually.
    • Maintain an accurate log of all denied or withdrawn loan applications. Assist in preparation of Adverse Action Notices and maintain files for these requests.
    • Assist with performing compliance audits and preparing management reports of the findings.
    • Assist Compliance Officer in the coordination and support of external compliance audits and regulatory examinations.
    • Maintain the bank’s CRA public file and monthly reports or spreadsheets for CRA data.
    • Promote the bank’s products and services whenever possible; participate in bank sponsored events and networking opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and endorse the bank’s brand.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Be able to represent the bank with a high level of integrity while supporting management decisions and goals in a professional manner.
    • Must have the ability to maintain composure under pressure and the ability to effectively handle conflict.


    Education and/or Experience:

    Minimum of High School Diploma with 2-4 years’ banking experience with at least 1 year in the area of loan and deposit compliance preferred; additional professional, technical training, or experience in the banking industry is a plus. A degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration would be beneficial. Ongoing training is required to keep abreast of changing laws, regulations, and best practices.


    Language, Mathematical, and Reasoning Skills:

    Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be fully proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; have ability to logically follow workflow from beginning to end for consistency and compliance in reporting; must be able to follow processes logically, assess potential weaknesses, as well as apply appropriate risk assessment. Must possess a high level of attention to detail.

This position requires working with some large thick files, sitting for a long period of time at a computer, some standing, reaching, and bending; some lifting that may be required up to 25 lbs.; close, far and peripheral vision with use of arms and fingers; and ability to operate a 10-key calculator, copier, printer, scanner, telephone and fax machine.
