ProTrans is seeking a Safety Programs Specialist to assist with the oversight and implementation of programs, processes, and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance and achieve world class safety. The Safety Programs Specialist will be responsible for oversight of Driver safety initiatives, execution of Safety Management programs, and fleet telematics. The position will be remote, and report to the DOT Safety Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
• Develop, manage, and execute positive recognition programs, coaching programs at the corporate, regional, divisional, and individual level.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors that provide support for safety-related items, including but not limited to Services and training schedules.
• Support safety management systems and fleet telematics within the fleet.
• Administer the driver safety IDP program.
• Manage our current library of safety training resources.
• Oversee successful completion of all related audits and ensure audits are uploaded to library.
• Prepare and distribute reports for DOT compliance tracking, as required.
• Monitor and track retraining completion of risky behaviors and post-accident reviews.
• Reviews reporting of all vehicular, passenger and employee accidents/incidents for determination of cause and preventability, identifying potential trends to be addressed in future training efforts.
• Systematically review available reports to identify opportunities for safety improvement.
• Lead, design, develop and implement other safety program initiatives, as required.
• Support collaborating teams with safety and training initiatives as required.
• Continuously research and maintain a current understanding of governing regulations.
• Frequent review of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DOT, IFTA, FMCSA, OSHA, and other regulatory officials. Ensure our policies and procedures account for up-to-date regulations.
• Support annual compliance reporting and filing for DOT and OSHA.
• Support the Safety Department on monthly invoice queue and approvals, ensuring that expenses are appropriately budgeted and accounted for in safety cost center forecast.
Qualifications
Talent Requirements:
• Samsara, Tenstreet, and Idealic program experience a plus.
• Three (3) to five (5) years safety programs experience preferred.
• Understanding of the DOT and OSHA rules and regulations preferred.
• Minimum (1) year Program or project management experience.
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Strong analytical presentation skills. (Verbal, written, collaborative, and organizational)
• Good time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Microsoft products including, but not limited to, TEAMS, SharePoint, OneDrive.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
