Computer Equipment Repairer installs, configures and repairs computer systems and related equipment at user's location. Provides ongoing support and preventative maintenance on an as needed basis. Being a Computer Equipment Repairer maintains an inventory of repair parts and documents status of repair orders. Areas of support typically include desktop/laptop computers, printers and other peripheral equipment, as well as basic software and networking support. Additionally, Computer Equipment Repairer may require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Computer Equipment Repairer works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. The Sewer District is accepting applications for the position of Electronic Equipment Repairer. The job duties of an Electronic Equipment Repairer includes the following: Installs, repairs, maintains and adjusts all types of pneumatic electrical and electronic instruments and controls; troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctioning instruments and tests them to locate defects; performs routine and preventive maintenance on electronic and electrical instruments and devices and keeps records of same; assists in designing, planning and building special instrumentation as required; performs electrical safety checks throughout facility on instruments, tools, fixtures and wiring to ensure safe, electrical conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Science, Bio-Medical Engineering, Electronics or Electrical Technology or related field and two (2) years of full-time paid work experience in the repair of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic or related instruments and/or devices.
NOTE:
1. Additional years of the required experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
2. Approved specialized training, including appropriate BOCES training, in the repair of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic or related instruments and/or devices may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
3. Completion of an approved formal apprenticeship course of two or more years as an Electronic Equipment Mechanic shall be deemed fully qualifying.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Candidate must be a legal resident of Rockland County. Possession of a valid driver’s license. Pre-employment medical examination and medical clearance for the use of respiratory equipment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION:The position will be filled on a provisional basis, as there currently is no civil service eligible list. To obtain consideration of being granted permanent civil service status, you would have to pass a future civil service examination and rank amongst the three highest graded exam takers who indicate a willingness to accept a job offer after being interviewed.
