Computer Numeric Control Machine Programmer programs and sets up CNC milling, lathe, or other machinery according to blueprint specifications. Reads and interprets technical blueprints and design models and inputs the product design into the computer modeling software. Being a Computer Numeric Control Machine Programmer adjusts machine settings to the desired product specifications, and troubleshoots and maintains the machine. Utilizes G or M code and CAM software (MasterCAM,CAMWorks or others). Additionally, Computer Numeric Control Machine Programmer tests accuracy of settings and programs. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Computer Numeric Control Machine Programmer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. Qualifications and skills:
Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety.
Proficient and math and basic computer skills.
Ability to lift 50 pounds, perform repetitive tasks and stand at a machine for entire shift.
Required Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain lathe and/or milling machines.
Review drawings, instruments, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
Review drawings, instruments for cutting and shaping.
Monitor production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary.
Maintain inventory of completed products.
Check output for quality assurance and document defects.
Maintain a safe and clean workstation.
Desirable Duties and Responsibilities.
Analyze specification charts, samples and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements.
Develop a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications. Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Set up equipment to complete each step of the manufacturing plan. Fabricate fixture components. Select, align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials.
