Abilene Machine is the largest family-owned agricultural replacement parts company in the US. The agriculture industry is stable and we are growing. We have openings in our Engine shop as a Engine Machinist. We are looking for energetic, reliable candidates to join our team. This position is responsible for set up and operation of conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts, exhibiting advanced knowledge and proficiency.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Proficient at three (3) machining stations; Crankshaft, cylinder blocks, heads, and/or connecting rods.
• Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers.
• Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
• Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
• Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
• Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
• Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.
• Verify conformance of parts to stock lists or blueprints, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
• Remove rough spots and smooth surfaces to fit, trim, or clean parts, using hand tools or power tools.
• Follows all safety rules and regulations; keeps work environment clean and free of hazards.

Qualifications and Capabilities:

• 2-5 years prior machining experience or Machinist certification.
