Computer Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective management of an organization's computer operations. Implements department policies and procedures to effectively operate and maintain computer systems and peripherals. Being a Computer Operations Manager manages the operation of information system equipment including scheduling workflow, maintenance, and capacity plans. Continuously monitors the efficacy of computer operations, backup processes, system monitors, and server availability to ensure operation goals are met. Additionally, Computer Operations Manager researches and evaluates potential equipment upgrades to improve the capabilities of computer operations.     SPECIAL NOTES:

    Four (4) years of experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field is required. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field may substitute for the required years of experience. An associate degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.

     

    Preference:

    • Master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

     

    Additional requirements:

    • Eight (8) years of experience in a senior technical leadership role, specifically emphasizing administration of enterprise virtualization environments, applications, and hardware.
    • High proficiency in troubleshooting IT infrastructure issues.
    • Ability to prepare, review, track, and report on IT Infrastructure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and established Service Level Expectations (SLEs).
    • Must be proficient in the English Language.

     

    This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description.

     

    This position requires the incumbent to be Criminal Justice Agency (CJA) approved for access to Criminal Justice Information (CJI). The incumbent will adhere to the Florida Department of Financial Services, Administrative Policies and Procedures 4-01, CJIS Management Directive and Local Security Policy.

     

    The salary range for this position will be $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 annually.

     

    Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

     

    This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

    This position, as the Manager of IT Infrastructure Services for the Department of Financial Services, carries significant responsibilities. It involves supervising employees, including communication, motivation, training, and evaluation. The role may require planning and directing employees' work, as well as making recommendations on actions such as hiring, transferring, suspending, laying off, recalling, promoting, discharging, assigning, rewarding, or disciplining subordinate employees.

     

    The primary responsibility is to ensure the effective delivery of Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Services to support the Department of Financial Services (DFS) divisions. Key duties include:

    • Managing successful outcomes of engagements for IT infrastructure services (Cloud, Hardware, Virtual, Windows, Open System, and Storage) delivery in collaboration with DFS strategic business relationship managers and other stakeholders within the Director of Information’s System teams. The goal is to modernize and refresh DFS infrastructure assets.
    • Directing IT Infrastructure services and staff.
    • Monitoring and reporting on IT infrastructure services performance.
    • Leading teams in troubleshooting IT infrastructure issues and addressing complex challenges when necessary.
    • Implementing policies, procedures, and standards to enhance the quality and efficiency of IT infrastructure services.
    • Identifying and driving IT infrastructure program service improvement plans.
    • Serving as a liaison between IT staff and business relationship managers to articulate and translate business requirements into corresponding technology solutions, ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
    • Designing technical solutions based on best practices and within departmental policy.
    • Ensuring that deployed solutions align with IT Architecture and engineering standards for Cloud, Hardware, Virtual, Windows, Open System, and Storage systems.
    • Being accountable for end-to-end IT infrastructure services project delivery.
    • Managing project communications, proactively addressing risks and issues.
    • Preparing, reviewing, tracking, and reporting on project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and established Service Level Expectations (SLEs).
    • Determining budgetary requirements for OIT Infrastructure systems.
    • Developing, administering, and interpreting organizational goals, policies, and procedures.
