Construction Loan Officer sources and structures construction loans. Performs a due diligence review of potential borrowers, including risk and financial analysis.     A Loan Officer is responsible for helping customers research loans and navigate the application, approval and closing process. Their duties include recommending commercial and personal loan options to clients and explaining their terms, determining risks for loaning to clients based on their credit and processing paperwork. They are specialists in evaluating the financial status of a loan applicant.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversees the staff that does the paperwork for applications
    • Verifies the information provided on applications to obtain more information if missing data or mistakes are present
    • Communicates with customers to help them choose the loan that best fits them.
    • Collects data from customers, such as their assets, salaries, debts and employment status
    • Reviews file documentation for missing or erroneous information.
    • Review and research title/lien, title searches, and title commitments.
    • Review types of collateral being taken by the bank for appropriate documentation to ensure the bank’s ability to perfect its lien position.
    • Participate in loan support, including scheduling and production of loan documents; modifications using a platform system for new and existing commercial loan transactions.
    • Verifies information about applicant history with credit bureaus and other agencies so the lender can approve or deny the loan.
    • Order updated financial statements, corporate tax returns, and/or personal tax returns from customers as needed.
    • Manage the application of payments on the loan system to conform to the terms of the loan documents.
    • Remains aware of loan application deadlines and informs customers about them
    • Reject loan applications and explain deficiencies to applicants.
    • Respond to applicants' questions and resolve any loan-related issues.
    • Operate in compliance with laws and regulations.

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

    · Typical skills needed in an office environment. These include computer skills, communication skills, as well as utilization of basic office equipment.

    · Solid understanding of local, state, and federal loan regulations.

    · In-depth knowledge of computers and banking software.

    · Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
