Construction Loan Officer sources and structures construction loans. Performs a due diligence review of potential borrowers, including risk and financial analysis. Being a Construction Loan Officer analyzes applicants' credit and financial status and obtains property appraisals to determine the feasibility of granting loans. Develops relationships with builders and developers to obtain referrals and future lending opportunities. Additionally, Construction Loan Officer structures construction loan terms and conditions according to policies. Approves loans within authorized limits or refers them to a loan committee for approval. May disburse loan proceeds at designated project mile. Requires a bachelor's degree. Applicant will be responsible for lending duties & tasks relating to consumer & mortgage loans at our main branch location in Lafayette. This position will be one of two full time loan officers at this branch. Applicant will ensure all loans are documented and underwritten to Credit Union policies and procedures as well as Federal and State rules and regulations. Applicant will work full time in office but will be allowed to telework when necessary. Applicant must be comfortable speaking with members and asking interview questions as well as dealing with car dealerships, title companies, and other vendors. Must be able to multi task and handle a steady volume of loan requests on a day-to-day basis.
Duties & Responsibilities
-Take phone calls & walk-ins to answer any questions members have regarding lending products
-Gather background information on loan applicants
-Interview applicants & interpret credit reports
-Verify documentation submitted by applicants
-Calculate monthly payments & run valuations on vehicles
-Approve or deny loan applications, or make counter offers according to policy and procedures
-Provide financial counseling as necessary
-Cross sell ancillary products like GAP, Credit Life/Disability, Extended Warranty
-Process approved applications
-Handle post-closing duties such as title & insurance tracking to ensure file is complete
-Send and receive title work coming to and from public tag agent
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Consumer Loan Officer or in a similar role preferred; Mortgage lending experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of financial concepts and lending practices
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
