Construction Management Director oversees construction projects and operations to meet the organization's financial and growth objectives and fulfill client contractual requirements. Develops and implements quality, performance, and safety standards and procedures for operations. Being a Construction Management Director reviews and approves procurement of required material, equipment, subcontractors, and worker resources. Provides project updates and communicates with clients, contractors, governmental or regulatory officials, and other stakeholders. Additionally, Construction Management Director builds effective team capacity to plan and implement construction projects. Ensures all permits, licenses, or certifications required by regulatory authorities are obtained. Establishes and enforces safety protocols and procedures to provide safe job sites and minimize risk. Monitors costs and timelines and submits required progress reports to deliver projects on time and within budget. Implements best practice construction methods to improve efficiency, productivity, and project outcomes. Requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field. Typically reports to senior management. The Construction Management Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Construction Management Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Construction Management Intern - Summer 2024

  • Baldwin & Shell Construction Company is currently looking for a Construction Management Intern – Summer 2024 who will thrive in our company.

    During our 10-week internship, we will provide you with training and experience working on active construction projects that will help translate your classroom knowledge into real world skills. We strive to expose our Interns to several phases of construction management by giving them the opportunity to support various projects and teams within the company.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Apply the knowledge you have acquired in the classroom setting to active commercial construction projects.
    • Project Management:
      • Provide support to Project Engineers and Project Managers.
      • Assist with setting up projects in Procore.
      • Review submittals, import estimates and set up subcontracts.
      • Assist with request for information (RFI), change orders, scheduling, specifications, and monthly projections.
    • Preconstruction & Estimating:
      • Assist with reviewing plans and put together bid packages.
      • Attend and participate in “job walks”.
      • Communicate with subcontractors to develop bid interest in our construction projects.
      • Assist with quantity takeoffs.
    • Field Office Operations:
      • Document job site project progress, take and upload photos into Procore.
      • Attend weekly meetings with project owner’s and architects.
      • Communicate with subcontractors to track job schedules.
      • Assist with project close out preparations and punch list coordination.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field of study.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
    • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
    • Must be self-driven, motivated and possess the ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
    • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
    • Pursuant to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to Baldwin & Shell standards and processes.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Junior or Senior level Construction Management student.
