Construction Management Director oversees construction projects and operations to meet the organization's financial and growth objectives and fulfill client contractual requirements. Develops and implements quality, performance, and safety standards and procedures for operations. Being a Construction Management Director reviews and approves procurement of required material, equipment, subcontractors, and worker resources. Provides project updates and communicates with clients, contractors, governmental or regulatory officials, and other stakeholders. Additionally, Construction Management Director builds effective team capacity to plan and implement construction projects. Ensures all permits, licenses, or certifications required by regulatory authorities are obtained. Establishes and enforces safety protocols and procedures to provide safe job sites and minimize risk. Monitors costs and timelines and submits required progress reports to deliver projects on time and within budget. Implements best practice construction methods to improve efficiency, productivity, and project outcomes. Requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field. Typically reports to senior management. The Construction Management Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Construction Management Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Practitioner or Assistant Professor of Construction Management

  • The University of Louisiana at Monroe invites applications and nominations for a (1) preferably a  9-month, tenure-track position as a Construction Management Assistant or (2) Practitioner in Residence in the School of Construction Management in the College of Business and Social Sciences.Primary responsibilities are to teach undergraduate students in most of the following areas: Construction Computer Applications, Advanced Construction Computer Applications, Construction Scheduling, Advanced Project Management and Construction Graphics. You are required to be proficient in using Excel spreadsheets, MS Project, Primavera, Procore, Blue Beam, Revit, CAD, SketchUp, and Building Information Model. The successful candidate will also have professional responsibilities in the areas of student advising, maintaining regular posted office hours; curriculum development; and student outcome assessment. Also, the successful candidate will be evaluated based on a performance evaluation, student evaluations, and successfully teaching each year. Furthermore, the successful candidate is required to participate in accreditation, faculty meetings, College and University committees and the candidate must be involved in service to the construction industry nationally.The requirements for this position include:  
    • Master’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, management, business, or a closely related field
    • Minimum of at least 10 years of full-time U.S. construction industry experience as a construction executive, project manager, estimator, or scheduler with increasing levels of responsibility
    • Evidence of excellence in university-level teaching  
    • Evidence of potential for scholarly productivity
    • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English
    Preferred Qualifications
    In addition to the required qualifications, additional consideration will be given to applicants who demonstrate evidence of the following:
    • 10 (ten) years of full-time U.S. construction industry experience
     
    •  Earned Terminal degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Management, Business, or Education. ABD’s will be considered if they have a plan for completion. 
    • Certified Professional Constructor or Certified Professional Estimator
    Other Expectations 
    If you are selected for this position and you do not have a terminal degree, 
    Within the first three months of employment, you are required to be accepted into an approved Ph.D. program. The College of Business & Social Sciences and the School of Construction Management will determine if a program is acceptable. Furthermore, you are required to complete all graduation requirements for your approved Ph.D. within 5 years. Tenure and continued employment are based upon your progress towards receiving a Ph.D. in an approved field of study.
