Construction Management Director oversees construction projects and operations to meet the organization's financial and growth objectives and fulfill client contractual requirements. Develops and implements quality, performance, and safety standards and procedures for operations. Being a Construction Management Director reviews and approves procurement of required material, equipment, subcontractors, and worker resources. Provides project updates and communicates with clients, contractors, governmental or regulatory officials, and other stakeholders. Additionally, Construction Management Director builds effective team capacity to plan and implement construction projects. Ensures all permits, licenses, or certifications required by regulatory authorities are obtained. Establishes and enforces safety protocols and procedures to provide safe job sites and minimize risk. Monitors costs and timelines and submits required progress reports to deliver projects on time and within budget. Implements best practice construction methods to improve efficiency, productivity, and project outcomes. Requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field. Typically reports to senior management. The Construction Management Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Construction Management Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Job Description:

    Janey Construction is looking for an experienced Clerk of the Works / Site Representative to join our Cape Cod team! You will be working 25-30 hours each week providing on-site support and collaborate with the project team members as part of Janey’s overall project management efforts. Position includes understanding of construction contract documents (including plans, specifications, and construction contract), daily reporting of all activities and interactions on the project site with logs and photos, tracking of materials and equipment on site, review of contractor change orders and monthly requisitions, participation in construction-phase meeting, and review/analysis of construction schedules, RFIs, proposal requests, and submittal documents.

     

    Position requires constant communication, verbally and via email. The Site Representative is responsible for maintaining constant on-site access to the complete set of bid documents, complete set of approved submittals, and all up to date RFIs, and you will need to understand who is responsible for roles of authority and coordination.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    *May perform other duties as assigned.

    • Provide both a detailed and professional daily report that provides notes on all activities on-site, including but not limited to: number of people on site and their activities, daily weather, including temperature, record permit inspections, all comments by the inspector, and pursue required follow up, deliveries observed and others that are reported to you, on-site equipment, on-site materials (when delivered), all visitors to the site, testing (to be notified by GC), daily photos that are dated and incorporated into reports, record all quantities that are being tracked, clearly make note of any work that may be an “extra” in bold or highlighted, and a digital copy of each daily report must be saved in the project file.
    • Confirm that all work is being completed in general conformance with the construction documents
    • Maintain an up-to-date digital log of submittals and RFIs
    • Have access to all applicable documents on site
    • Check all submittals against the specifications, check materials delivered against approved submittals
    • Be familiar with the schedule, requirements, and standards for upcoming work
    • Confirm that the contractors is working in alignment with all local codes, requirements, and other agreed upon aspects of the project permitting
    • Attend all meetings, review meeting minutes and confirm any incorrect information in a timely manner
    • Review requisitions to confirm the level of completed work and stored materials
    • Enter time and expenses in a timely fashion
    • Work independently, and seek appropriate guidance and clarification
    • Collaborate effectively with the other members of the project team
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
    • The ability to review and understand the CM/GC Project Specific Safety Plan
    • Observe and report of any site safety or OSHA violations to the CM/GC
    • Assist Project Manager with the monthly review of the CM/GC Pay Requisition/ Application for accuracy and percent completes based on work in place
    • Review, analyze and provide feedback to CM/GC’s on monthly project schedule updates

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience
    • General understanding of construction and generally accepted business practices
    • Knowledge of construction documents and all specifications of the project to identify when elements fall out of conformance
    • OSHA 10 or 30 Certificate
