Develops and implements quality, performance, and safety standards and procedures for operations. Being a Construction Management Director reviews and approves procurement of required material, equipment, subcontractors, and worker resources. Provides project updates and communicates with clients, contractors, governmental or regulatory officials, and other stakeholders. Additionally, Construction Management Director builds effective team capacity to plan and implement construction projects. Ensures all permits, licenses, or certifications required by regulatory authorities are obtained. Establishes and enforces safety protocols and procedures to provide safe job sites and minimize risk. Monitors costs and timelines and submits required progress reports to deliver projects on time and within budget. Implements best practice construction methods to improve efficiency, productivity, and project outcomes. Requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field. Typically reports to senior management. The Construction Management Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Construction Management Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Reports To: CEO and CFO
    Location: San Diego
    Coordination: Executive, Construction, and Administration Management

    Summary of Role:

    In this role, you will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, benefit plans and staff of Sustineo Construction, leading the Human Resources department. The HR Director ensures legal compliance and implementation of Sustineo’s mission and talent strategy. Responsibilities include overseeing HRIS systems and reporting, leading compliance and labor law directives, handling employee relations, ensuring compliance with changing regulations, assessing staffing needs, hiring, onboarding and terminating staff, designing training programs, and developing compensation plans. You would possess a high work ethic, excellent communication skills, knowledge of labor regulations and HR practices, strategic thinking abilities, strong organization skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with senior management to understand the goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
    • Ability to creative problem solve and demonstrate the ability to lead organizational change.
    • Developing and implementing human resources policies with excellent written skills
    • Hiring staff and negotiating employment agreements.
    • Manage all employee communications and benefits, including onboarding, terminations, staff wellness, performance reviews.
    • Advise on company risk and legislation updates.
    • Manage all software associated with employee benefits.
    • Hold investigations and manage labor law disputes.
    • Manage EDD reporting and paperwork.
    • Manage 401k reporting and paperwork.
    • Report and understand construction timecard processes.
    • Set and direct employee training for office staff and field staff.
    • Update policy of employee communications associated with legislation changes and updates through HR software and employee handbook.

    Related Experience and Educational Requirements:

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related subject.
    • Master’s degree in Human Resources.
    • 1-7 years of on-the-job experience.
    • 1 years’ experience of PHR Certification.
    • 7 years’ experience of SPHR Certification.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Sage 100 Contractor, Construction Management software, HRIS software

    Shall Exhibit the Following Expertise:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
    • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate, willing to coach employees.
    • Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and workplace investigations.
    • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
    • Computer literacy and ability to quickly learn the company’s management systems.

    Other Pertinent Information:

    Position will be staffed full time in Southern California, at our San Diego headquarters. Candidate must be legally entitled to work and reside in the U.S.

    In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $96,000-$110,000 annually and includes a total benefits package. Salary and benefits package determined based on skills, work experience and certifications.
