Job Focus Area
This position serves as the primary or secondary support contact for multiple LDE Statewide systems. The LDE statewide systems support encompasses, but not limited to the management of all application enhancements and modifications to their given systems, communication and training with all of the local Education Agencies (LEAs) and associated contacts, and ensuring that the data is as error-free and correct as possible once a system collection closes.. Assists and advises clients at the local and state level with collection, management, and reporting of education-related information such as defining data elements/indicators and developing data user guides/dictionaries.
Serves as project leader in the design, development, and maintenance of computerized databases containing data on public and non-public education required by the production of reports. Provides on-going assistance to LEAs, the Legislature, the BESE, and other divisions within the Department.-Represents the Department and participates in meetings, conferences, and workshops at the local, state, and national level.

The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
One position is available and located in Baton Rouge, LA. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. This position may be filled by a probationary new hire, or by promotion of any current permanent classified Louisiana State employee. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.
Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:
A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from all other Education Information Consultant positions by performing duties at the entry level.
Differs from all other Information Systems Management Consultant positions by performing duties that are less technical, more functional and are focused on information requirements in the area of education.
Differs from all other education job titles by the emphasis being on information management within the research or information areas rather than educational programs.Assists clients at the local and state level with collection, management, and reporting of education related information such as; defining data elements/indicators and developing data user guides/dictionaries.
Helps conduct in-service workshops to train clients about department data collection and submission procedures.
Assists in the review and verification of data collected by the Department for validity and accuracy, using a variety of analytical and statistical methods.
Assists educators and members of the general public at the school, district, and/or state levels in collecting and/or interpreting education data for school improvement and/or other education decision-making purposes.
Assists in defining, comparing, presenting, and recommending the implementation of specific data collection activities and educational research approaches.
Assisting with designing and identifying program measurement standards which are used for reporting the education progress of schools, districts, and the state as a whole. The employee will assist in the management of the design and dissemination of assigned components for written and electronic reports.
