Statement of Qualifications Section

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted with your application. The Statement of Qualifications will serve as documentation of your ability to present written information clearly and concisely. The SOQ must be typed, single spaced, in Arial 12 pt. font, and be no longer than one page in length. Please notate “Statement of Qualifications” and your name in the upper right corner. A resume will not be accepted as an alternative to the SOQ.

When completing your SOQ, include all relevant experience, education, and training for each prompt. Incomplete or missing responses to the information requested may negatively impact the assessment of your qualifications. If knowledge and experience was gained from State employment, please include the civil service title and beginning and ending dates in your description of qualifications.

Applications submitted without an SOQ will not be considered.

Your SOQ must address the following:

1. Describe your experience managing a workload that has changing priorities.

2. Describe your experience analyzing complex issues and developing recommendations to resolve the issues.

3. Describe your experience gathering, compiling, analyzing, and presenting statistical data. Please include the computer programs used.

Additional Instructions

If you are using education to meet the minimum qualifications, as specified in the classification specification (http://www.calhr.ca.gov/state-hr-professionals/pages/job-descriptions.aspx), please include a copy of your degree or unofficial transcripts with your application package. U.S Postal Service Mail: Application and any applicable required documents may be submitted by mail. The envelope must be postmarked before or on the final filing date as stated on the job vacancy announcement.

Hand Delivery: Application and any applicable required documents may be hand delivered by 5:00 p.m. on the final filing date as stated on the job vacancy announcement. Application packages postmarked, personally delivered, or received via interagency mail after 5:00 p.m. on the final filing date will not be accepted for any reason. Do not submit applications to the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR). Drop off location may be non-operational on weekends and holidays.
