Consumer Credit Manager supervises underwriting operations and oversees the loan application review process to determine loan eligibility and terms. Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the underwriting team to ensure that loan screening is conducted timely, accurately, and in compliance with all regulations. Being a Consumer Credit Manager provides loan options or product recommendations based on qualifications and keeps the team updated and informed of new products, regulations, or product changes. Assists customers through the loan process by researching and answering complex or unique customer inquiries, clarifying details, and coordinating with internal parties. Additionally, Consumer Credit Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Consumer Credit Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Consumer Credit Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Credit Solutions Manager

  • General Summary: To minimize credit union losses due to loan default through a rigorous collection process while being sensitive to any hardships which may have caused a member to default on financial obligations owed to the credit union. Work with the loan officers to analyze delinquent history to possibly restructure, consolidate and/or prevent the possibilities of future membership debt. Perform all functions of the collection area as well as solving problems and helping work related issues by guiding and advising staff in the efficient handling of the collection area environment needs.

    Essential Functions:

    • Coordinate and implement work schedule for the collection area.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the Bankruptcy Act and consumer protection laws.
    • Maintain knowledge of all state and federal regulations that are applicable to the transactions done by both collection and lending areas of banking.
    • Conduct collection calls on past due accounts in person, by phone and/or documented letters and notices of correspondence.
    • Work with and train collections associates to review and consider the member’s entire portfolio before taking any action; payment history, credit history, checking account history, direct deposit, etc.
    • Provide assistance and direction for members with past due accounts.
    • Produce and monitor monthly collection reports for Board and Management review.
    • Oversee the handling of recovery and sale of repossessions.
    • Handle acquisition and sale of foreclosed real estate.
    • Oversee and review accounts turned over for collection or to the attorney for collection.
    • Process Life, Health & Accident insurance claims.
    • Direct the processing of delinquent notices, Right to Cure letters and all other collection notices and letters.
    • Assist in taking loan applications and giving Blue Book and PC Car-Facts as needed.
    • Provide the knowledge and monitor the collection software to make sure it is being used to the maximum benefit for the credit union.
    • Complete and direct staff to complete computer-based compliance training and testing provided by the training area.
    • Obtain and direct the ability to prepare lending documents to help members work out of their financial binds. Includes taking, developing and close status applications to put both the members and the credit union in a better financial situation.
    • Foster a teamwork approach with collection staff in dealing with other working areas.
    • Monitor and achieve collection goals and maintain delinquency objectives.
    • Assist in evaluating and completing job performances.
    • Conduct oneself in a professional manner in relationship to all credit union activities.
    • Develop an understanding of credit union philosophy, organization, bylaws and operational procedures.

    1. Actively support our “sales and service “culture and demonstrate these skills by communicating to members the benefits and features of all our products and services.

    2. Expect and embrace change by being flexible and adaptable. Meet performance objectives and expectations (i.e. Sales, Quality Service and Reliability).

    3. Help analyze needs and changes in the credit union to maintain and increase member expectations along with creating potential new products for members.

    4. Complete in-house training based on required classes set up for this position.

    5. Assist in any area as directed by management.

    Job Specifications:

    Associate degree with 2 years collection experience. Equivalent experience considered (e.g. 3-4 years of collection experience)

    High degree of accuracy/detail skills

    Organization skills with the ability to supervise train and plan

    Counseling and interviewing experience with mature judgment

    Maintain continued interest in improving quality banking products and services

    Interested in the wellbeing of people along with the ability to communicate positively and effectively
