Consumer Credit Supervisor supervises underwriting operations and oversees the loan application review process to determine loan eligibility and terms. Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the underwriting team to ensure that loan screening is conducted timely, accurately, and in compliance with all regulations. Being a Consumer Credit Supervisor provides loan options or product recommendations based on qualifications and keeps the team updated and informed of new products, regulations, or product changes. Assists customers through the loan process by researching and answering complex or unique customer inquiries, clarifying details, and coordinating with internal parties. Additionally, Consumer Credit Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Consumer Credit Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Consumer Credit Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     SUMMARY

    Provides independent credit analysis of new and existing commercial real estate loan relationships and commercial & industrial loans. Develops critical written analysis of new loan opportunities and review/renewal of existing portfolio credit relationships as a member of the Commercial Lending Division. Such duties include performing due diligence of new credit opportunities and annual reviews to ensure loans comply with loan policies and procedures, financial statement spreading, reviewing, and analyzing financial information and Borrower/Guarantor credit trends, developing detailed written analysis that is comprehensive yet concise, and forming an independent judgment-based risk rating opinion. Approves loans within credit lending authority. Requires use of independent judgment and decision making. 


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Review of business loan applications and supporting financial statements to develop information sufficient to determine the credit worthiness of the borrower and determine the ability to repay, collateral adequacy, and appropriate loan structure and adherence to credit union policies and procedures. 
    • Prepares financial statements spread sheets and independent credit analyses (e.g., accountant prepared financials, corporate tax returns, company financials/projections, personal financial statements) on Sharon & Crescent United Credit Union’s (SCUCU) existing or potential commercial borrowers. Performs historical trend and ratio analysis and properly assesses cash flow, collateral, industry risks, guarantor strength and all other major risks to SCU in lending to these borrowers. Performs a comparative analysis on companies with similar financial data, ratios on liquid position, profit margin, etc.
    • Approves loans within credit lending authority.  
    • Interacts with Business Development and Commercial Lending Officers to gather information relative to a borrower/guarantor being analyzed or to discuss issues with the credit.
    • Prepares various loan credit memorandums (e.g., credit approvals, modifications, loan extensions, annual reviews) and narrative reports (e.g., relationship history, industry data, collateral coverage, ability to service debt & risk) for commercial relationships. Also, makes recommendations to improve and/or better structure the relationship.
    • Research economic trends, industry trends, regulatory requirements, business & trade publications to assess impact on credit risk on current/potential borrowers
    • Performs annual reviews on SCU’s commercial portfolio, examining financial statements, collateral, guarantors, etc. Determines the validity of the business and recommends rating changes.
    • Participates in the preparation and review of commitment letters and legal documentation. 
    • Focuses on meeting the goals of the department and organization.
    • Maintains current knowledge of loan products, lending regulations and commercial credit standards. Must comply with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to with all applicable federal and state regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, Fair Lending laws (Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Housing Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Community Reinvestment Act) OFAC, Regulation O and the Flood Disaster Protection Act.  
    • Demonstrates continual learning by attending industry seminars, webinars, and other training programs.  
    • Monitors loan portfolio for early late payments.
    • Performs credit related duties including post-closing documentation review, appraisal reviews, and environmental report reviews.
    • Performs additional duties such as ensuring proper credit approval has been received prior to funding a loan. 
    • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
    • Assists with special projects assigned by the Commercial Lending Department Head.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Formal credit training (credit analysis & loan review). 
    • Understanding of Small Business Administration 7A, Express and/or 504 loan programs.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skill, as well as math skills 
    • Experience working with bank core systems. 
    • Sound knowledge of commercial loan policies, compliance, and loan operations. 
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 
    • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task. 
    • Effective analytical, organizational, business development, presentation, problem-solving, negotiation and customer service skills. 
    • Must possess at least intermediate technology skills, including knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.
    • Ability to use sound judgment. 
    • Ability to work independently, 
    • Working knowledge of state and federal employment regulations

    EDUCATION:

    • Four-year Undergraduate Degree with a field of study preference in Business administration, finance, accounting and/or economics 
    • Minimum of two years of commercial banking experience which may include business banking, middle market, and/or commercial banking, and commercial credit/risk oversight.
