Job Description:  VP Commercial-Consumer Loans

Wage Classification:  Exempt

Supervisory:  No Supervisory Responsibility                                                                                           

JOB SUMMARY

To develop and manage commercial loan accounts which meet established lending requirements, and which provide maximum profitability to the bank with a minimum amount of risk.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interviews loan applicants, collects and analyzes financial and related data in order to determine the

           credit worthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request

• Establishes and negotiates terms under which credit will be extended, including costs, repayment method and schedule and collateral requirements

• Approve loans up to the limit defined in the Loan Policy; handle the more complex and substantial loans of the department

• Responsible for internal grading of loans
• Collect and analyze information which reflects the current creditworthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans (Information may be obtained by direct inspection of the  applicant's business and/or collateral, review of interim financial reports, personal interview, etc.)

• Monitor loan repayment activities and take necessary action to collect from past due accounts
• Responsible for knowing and adhering to the bank's policies and procedures
• Assist customers with business management and financial matters
• Develop new business by contacting prospects and customers; active participant in Bank’s calling program and cross sell additional services to existing customers

• Establish strong working relationshiops with customers while meeting defined goals assigned by Chief Lending Officer

• Assist in developing material for loan presentations to the Credit Management Committee and the Director’s Loan Committee
• Participate in community affairs to increase the bank's visibility and to enhance new business opportunities
• Serve as a contact officer for non-borrowing accounts and loan customers for matters relating to other bank services
• Undertakes special projects relating to departmental services
• Assist other loan personnel in loan matters
• Ensure the protection of the bank's interest in matters of adequate documentation and adherence to bank policy and the various laws and regulations applicable to department operations, as well as the exercise of sound credit decisions in the loan area

• Remain current on lending practices and government regulations
• Provide excellent service to customers; obtain and follow up on required documents
• Reviews and approves overdrafts which might occur on customer deposit accounts
• Monitor and assist in choosing collateral insurance providers and tracking coverage and quality of the chosen company
• Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field; commensurate experience may substitute.
• Minimum 5 years of banking experience
• Minimum 5 years Consumer and/or small business lending experience
• Microsoft Office experience including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience calling on customers and growing commercial and consumer lending portfolio.
• Previous Bank Operations experience
• Previous Credit analysis experience
