Consumer Loan Officer develops and services consumer loans. Interviews loan applicants to determine financing needs and to offer the appropriate loan products and repayment arrangements. Being a Consumer Loan Officer evaluates loan applications and applicant creditworthiness. Once a loan is approved and negotiated, monitors loan payments, and provides customer service to ensure the borrower's questions are answered and needs are met, and that the loan is repaid appropriately. Additionally, Consumer Loan Officer maintains accurate and thorough records, and follows all applicable organizational, state, and federal policies and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Consumer Loan Officer works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. (Loan Processor), your abilities to manage the loan process from lead to
closing, use detailed workflows, and communicate with stakeholders are your
keys to success.
Essential Responsibilities
· Manage
the real estate loan process from inception to closing using detailed workflows
· Supervise
all administrative roles for borrower and seller transactions from contract to
close
· Aid
real estate agents, clientele, and other stakeholders’ requisite paperwork and
ensure the completion of all closing documentation
· Responsible
for interfacing and communicating with stakeholders to ensure processing and
underwriting tasks are being done timely and accurately
· Coordinate
timelines with borrower’s title companies, insurance agents to obtain necessary
information
· Understand
loan documents, mortgage process and loan origination system to effectively
manage workflows
· Track
all outstanding items with stakeholders to ensure timely receipt of necessary
documentation
· Maintain
effective communication on loan status with partners
· Assist
leadership with the preparation and distribution loan level data
· Identify
and communicate risks and learn pitfalls to avoid when working through loan
files
· Maintain
a high level of confidentiality and security while handling personal
information; verbal and/or written documentation
· Communicate
clearly
Experience and Training
· Two-year
college degree preferred
· Two
years of Loan Processing or loan industry experience required
· Working
knowledge of real estate lending
· Proficient
with MS Office including Excel and Word
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Must
be able to make good decisions and meet deadlines
· Ability
to write accurate reports and documents; holds self to a high level of quality
· Must
be self-motivated and enthusiastic to obtain personal and company goals
· Ability
