Consumer Loan Servicing Supervisor supervises the daily activities of a loan servicing team. Oversees and coordinates processing and documenting loan transactions, insurance, and tax bills, and performing escrow analysis. Performs quality checks and resolves issues. Additionally, Consumer Loan Servicing Supervisor monitors workload and allocates resources to meet production goals. Coaches and trains team. May require an associate degree. Typically reports to a senior manager or head of a unit/department. The Consumer Loan Servicing Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Consumer Loan Servicing Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Under general managerial guidance: Supervises the day-to-day activities and workflow of the Loan Recovery unit.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Supervises consumer loan recovery activities that include:

    • Solving customer disputes.
    • Coordinating activities with attorneys and small claims court.
    • Monitoring collection agencies' production and assisting them as required.
    • Reviewing inactive charge-off files regarding corrections and title disputes.
    • Establishes guidelines for staff and monitors accounts to ensure maximum recovery.

    Collects on account portfolio of charge-off loans; performs all related actions, for example:

    1. Working with charge-off accounts on major skip-tracing.
    2. Setting up repayment for recovery optimization.
    3. Asset searching when judgment is received.
    • Schedules and distributes incoming and outgoing work to collectors, reviews accounts daily, determines final disposition of charge-off accounts and makes recommendations to Manager.
    • Prepares monthly internal collection status reports for Management.
    • Attends regular Regulatory Seminars and on-site Webinars.

    • Continuing education by attending BCG, regulatory and other offered training related to assigned responsibilities.
    • Pro-actively engage in a timely manner with implementation of compliance requirements, remediation of monitoring and examination findings, and related activities as assigned.
    • Adherence to policies, procedures and regulatory banking requirements.
    • Perform additional job related duties as required.

    Requirements

    4-5 years' direct experience, including 1 year supervisory experience required.

    • Experience in collections and bankruptcy required.
    • Understanding of small claims and bankruptcy actions, and state and federal credit and collection laws required.
    • Excellent written communication, analytical, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills are required.
    • Well organized, adept at managing peak workload with an ability to meet deadlines.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Position requires long hours at PC console.
    • Lifting of files and storage boxes up to 25 lbs.

    MENTAL DEMANDS:

    • Requires innovation and analysis to solve moderately complex problems.
    • Utilizes internal and external compliance manuals and procedure guidelines to resolve situations.
    • Read, interpret and apply constantly changing guidelines.
    • Prioritize assignments and completes multiple tasks within required time frames and demanding situations
    • Ability to write and/or follow complex instructions regrading extracted data from numerous systems and consolidated in database for data analysis.

    EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM FUNCTIONS:

    • PC and laptop, server, fax machine, telephone, photocopier, 10-key calculator.

    DECISION MAKING:

    • Recognize and communicate opportunities to increase recovery dollars and operational efficiencies.
    • Identify creative workout solutions and present alternate recommendations for resolution of potential loss.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: 

    • Directly Supervised: 4-5 collectors and/or recovery specialists
