TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days as designated per Negotiated Contract. Works on-site according to Principal's designated schedule.
SUMMARY:
To provide career and technical educational instruction to secondary students in the Family and Consumer Science Program; develop social, behavioral and educational skills; to establish effective rapport with students, parents and colleagues; help develop skills, organize, and conduct a comprehensive educational program for secondary students which will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible individuals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a bachelor's degree or higher. One (1) year of related experience preferred. Hold a valid Idaho Career Technical Education (CTE) Certificate endorsed for Family and Consumer Sciences (6-12). Spanish language skills or bilingualism preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Teaches and coordinates the Family and Consumer Science program with a wide range of instructional skills that include nutrition, menu planning, food preparation, fashion/clothing care and construction, financial literacy/money management, consumer awareness and child development.
* Creates a classroom environment that sparks a heightened interest in learning for every student.
* Teaches content, knowledge, and skills to high school level students, utilizing courses of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
* Creates and maintains a safe learning environment.
* Individualizes and adapts educational processes and procedures to enhance student educational opportunities, including actively pursuing alternative solutions to improve student learning, i.e. providing individual, small group, or remedial instruction.
* Pursues a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, group learning, and laboratory experiences.
* Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates the history, background, and assessment of students in designing instructional programs to meet individual educational needs.
* Counsels, confers, and communicates with parents, school, and District personnel regarding student progress, and in the interpretation of the educational program.
* Performs a variety of non-instructional duties, including participation in curriculum and instructional development (committees), supervision of students, participation in student activities, and consultation/collaboration with colleagues.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment under minimal temperature variations.
