Quality Assurance and Risk Manager

    Pay Range: $65,000-$80,000 Reports to: Operations DirectorLocation: Hybrid (Basalt, Colorado office/remote)

    Job Summary: The quality assurance and risk manager is responsible for the regulatory compliance, quality assurance and quality-improvement functions of the organization. This position provides expertise, resources and support to all organizational departments on quality, compliance and risk management.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Identifies the policies and procedures needed to satisfy regulatory bodies; comply with state, federal and local laws; and minimize risk to staff and clients
    • Coordinates the development and revision of the organization’s policies and procedures in collaboration with the management team
    • Collaborates with the management team to implement policies and procedures across the organization
    • Presents policies and procedures for approval by the Board of Directors at least every three years
    • In collaboration with the management team, prepares training materials and provides training to staff policies and procedures
    • Coordinates the preparation of licensing applications and renewal applications
    • Tracks regulatory deadlines and coordinates the organization’s response
    • Prepares responses to performance improvement and corrective action plans from regulatory agencies in collaboration with the Executive Director
    • Oversees critical incident reporting to regulatory bodies
    • Tracks changes to regulations and laws affecting the organization’s practices
    • Coordinates regulatory audits
    • Conducts internal audits and reviews to ensure compliance with regulations
    • Develops the plan in collaboration with the management team and Quality Oversight Committee (QOC)
    • Presents and annual report of progress on the plan to management team and the Board of Directors
    • Works with the leadership team to identify quality improvement goals and develops and implements strategies to measure progress toward these goals
    • Convenes the QOC at least twice annually
    • Compiles and presents data on critical incident trends and oversees implementation of organizational changes as recommended by the QOC
    • Compiles and presents data on client complaints and grievances and oversees implementation of changes to organizational practices as recommended by the QOC
    • Conducts an annual safety risk assessment in compliance with regulatory requirements
    • Raises safety risks and suggests solutions to operations director and implements agreed upon strategies to reduce risks to staff and clients
    • Prepares the emergency response plan, in collaboration with the Human Resources Manager
    • Collaborates with legal consultants on development of HIPAA privacy and security policies
    • Manages violations and privacy breaches in consultation with operations director
    • Collaborates with operations director to ensure compliance and reporting standards are met
    • Identifies credible supplementary resource information
    • Identifies compliance-related training needs and coordinates training

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of Colorado Behavioral Health Administration’s regulatory environment
    • Knowledge of basic approaches to quality management and improvement processes
    • Ability to complete basic data analysis
    • Ability to use software applications to organize work to include Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally

    Credentials and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
    • Minimum of three to five years of experience in roles related to clinical compliance, risk management or quality improvement in healthcare setting required
    • HIPAA, corporate compliance and risk-management experience preferred
