QUALITY ASSURANCE AUDITOR - 1ST and 2ND SHIFT

  • SUMMARY
    Under general supervision, ensures that raw materials, work in process and finished goods meet established quality standards for Jelly Belly Candy Company while conforming to federal and state laws by performing the following duties.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem from time to time.

    Food safety, food protection or quality responsibilities within job. All staff are responsible for reporting food safety, food protection and quality issues to those that can initiate action.
    Conducts routine quality tests on incoming raw materials, goods in process and finished products as assigned or directed, and communicates the need for corrective action to the QA Manager.
    Assists in calibrating refractometers, thermometers, and other types of metering and measuring devise and scales. Monitors the environment and processing conditions.
    Assists in training new lab personnel and in determining solutions for quality problems.
    Prepares written and/or oral reports pertaining to quality concerns of a technical nature as assigned or directed. Completes and files daily Audit Forms and other Quality Assurance paperwork. Computer processing work as required. Neat and accurate penmanship is required.
    Maintains cleanliness and order in the lab and other work areas. Is conscious of Good Manufacturing Practices in the plant and reports non-conformities to the QA Manager.
    Monitors the Pest Control Program in the Lab and/or the plant.
    Assists in maintaining the retention of daily production samples by code date for one year.
    Checks the quality of WIP/finished candy and approves it for panning, packaging using our ERP computer system.
    Assists with the organoleptic evaluations, GMP / Safety Tour and monthly audits.
    Assist with SQF and CFR 111 document filing as needed.
    Responsible for the quality of their work and implementation of the food safety, food protection and quality procedures applicable to the processes that they perform.
    Report all safety incidents.
    Responsible to report any food safety, food protection and/or quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action – SQF Practitioner or direct supervisor.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    No supervisory responsibilities exist in this position.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS
    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employee of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume. Ability to apple concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    REASONING ABILITY
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
