 Academic or Behavior Coach

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree preferred. Further preference will be given for degrees in education, counseling, applied social science or similar discipline.
• Teaching, tutoring, or other experience working with youth, preferred 
• Academic knowledge in ELA and Math preferred, depending on the assignment.
• Knowledge of teaching techniques and academic programs desired
• Relevant life experience that relates to work with at risk youth desired
• Adept at building positive relationships with staff, student, and parents 
• Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
• Excellent organization skills
• Experienced in various computer/technology tools

Reports To: Building Administrators

Job Goal – To collaborate with school staff, parents and students in the development and implementation of Student Success Plans.To build positive, trusting relationships with assigned students and assist them as they work to meet their academic and/or behavior goals. To provide Tier II and Tier III academic and/or behavior support as part of the building MTSS system.

Responsibilities:

• Meet regularly with assigned students, in small groups or one-on-one, for the purpose of academic tutoring or behavior counseling.
• Work with individual students, parents and school staff to develop Personalized Success Plans for assigned students.
• Assist students to overcome problems that impede learning and assist them in making sound educational choices.
• Monitor the Personalized Success Plan progress.
• Track assigned students’ attendance and progress.
• Maintain records of interactions with students as well as meetings with parents and staff regarding the student’s needs.
• Consult with staff regularly on the progress of students assigned.
• Collaborate with other school support staff as MTSS system would indicate (i.e. counselors, social workers, etc.)
• Help students develop independent study skills and organization techniques to help improve student academic performance as required
• Provide in-class support for assigned students to increase Tier I success, as required. 
• Communicate proactively with teaching staff, students, parents and building

Administrators.  Report any concerns regarding student progress to the school administrator and parent.  

• Treat school and student information in a confidential manner.
• Other duties may be required based on the student population served. 

Terms of employment:  Designated by Notice of Assignment. Hourly, non-exempt status.
