Description
The Resilience Center Coach - leads and facilitates student interaction(s) inside the Resilience Center space at each middle school. The Resilience Center Coach forms a partnership with teachers, principals, and students to enhance student belongingness, attendance, academic and behavioral outcomes through the implementation of effective social-emotional and behavioral practices. The Resilience Center approach supports the student who needs space and time to regulate and prepare for learning in the classroom. The Resilience Center Coach facilitates and supervises student regulation and preparation activities. Facilitation and supervision may include direct and/or indirect interaction with students as well as sponsoring specialists and partners from outside agencies to support student needs. The Resilience Center Coach promotes a whole child approach centered on social emotional fitness, physical fitness, and academic fitness utilizing innovative, trauma informed, culturally responsive practices. The Resilience Center Coach plays an important role as it pertains to student experiences at school that include tenets of positive behavioral supports, social-emotional foundational practices, mental health literacy, and coaching for equity. In addition, the Resilience Center Coach will assess student needs and work with the student and other stakeholders to address barriers to learning. Partnering with district and school level leaders, the Resilience Center Coach develops a fluid plan with the student, the teacher(s) and potentially the family to support systemic improvement for students who frequent the Resilience Center on a consistent basis.
This is currently a limited-term contract through the end of the 2022-23 school year. This position is currently grant funded. It may or may not extend beyond this school year. We are ideally looking for a position at each middle school.
Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications and requirements:
Classroom teaching experience.
Familiarity with the design and expectations of the Wisconsin State Standards, Response to Intervention, Positive Behavior Intervention Supports and Social Emotional Learning Competencies
Knowledge of current pedagogical approaches to teaching/learning and effective behavior support and mental health awareness.
Ability to use technology in the Google environment and have familiarity with data management systems including Skyward and eduCLIMBER.
Exceptional ability to manage a flexible schedule, be self-directed, and have a work history of eliciting high levels of discretionary effort.
Professional, non-judgemental disposition with a work history of creating positive, collaborative relationships and culture within an organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills including the ability to coordinate and manage multiple work responsibilities.
Ability to keep accurate records.
Valid driver’s license and access to an automobile.
Position responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with district and building leadership teams to assess, develop and implement comprehensive educational equity systems and practices.
Engage in trauma informed, culturally responsive, equitable strategies to enhance the emotional, physical and academic fitness for student(s).
Facilitate reflective dialogue with colleagues and administrators to improve systems and practices.
Assist in communicating and coordinating with the classroom teacher and school counselor/social worker in working with parents and other stakeholders, which could include wrap-around services.
Collaborate with teachers and specialists to build staff capacity in soft skills of de-escalation (e.g. verbal, removing the audience, postvention, etc.).
Collaboratively plan academic and behavioral/social/emotional support following best practices to properly address specific student needs.
Provide direct instruction or behavioral support with students to monitor student learning and progress.
Utilize data to facilitate discussions with PLC teams in planning interventions for students.
Participate in ongoing professional development for coaches.
Serve one building.
