Position: Full Time Insurance Verification Scheduling Clerk
Department: Radiation Oncology
Shift: Varied – Primarily Days
PURPOSE
The primary focus of the Oncology Services Insurance Verification Scheduling Clerk is to verify insurance benefit coverage for identified services and communicating the patient’s benefit details to the requesting department prior to the patient’s scheduled appointment for procedures and therapies. This individual is responsible for accurately documenting pertinent authorization information in all related Hospital billing systems and to verify that existing information is accurate. This position requires an extensive amount of time on the phone with insurance companies to obtain authorization for services. This individual will also assist in scheduling of patients and providing coverage of the front desk. May perform other related duties as assigned by Lead Radiation Therapist or Director of Medical Imaging.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrates competency in the application of software utilized in a medical office or hospital setting.
Minimum two years’ experience in the medical office and/or insurance verification/billing field. Knowledgeable regarding Radiation Oncology procedures and treatments preferred.
Demonstrated ability to perform at a high level and have multitasking skills, with ability to work on many projects at once.
Must be organized and detail oriented with excellent follow-up skills.
Excellent communication and telephone skills.
