Content Specialist, Sr. curates content used for a variety of web, mobile, and other platforms.     • This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by planning and creating communications for external and internal audiences to relay information about Mercy's technology, patient-related initiatives, and other services to educate and build preference. In addition to Marketing, this position supports Human Resources, Foundation, the administrative team and other departments by researching, writing, editing and/or proofing written communications, and supports the delivery of a quality healthcare experience through information and education provided to patients, families and prospective patients.

    • Job Duties/Essential Functions
      • Job Duties
        • Internal communications: Align and coordinate internal messaging to key initiatives and systematically plan, research, write, edit and manage the deployment of messaging through internal communication channels including internal employee newsletter, among others.
        • Plan, research, write, edit and manage external publications including sponsored content, Annual Report, etc.
        • Shoot and/or coordinate photography/video, write, edit, and create content for multi-channel marketing and storytelling – digital, social, web, email, print publications, direct mail, etc.
        • Write and manage content for social media and website, including both written and video content.
        • Proofread and edit materials.
        • Research and write speeches, talking points, award nominations, etc.
        • Discern and/or solicit candidates for various nominations; write and submit nominations.
        • Manage the development/production of various marketing materials (brochures, fact sheets, letters, website materials, other promotional pieces) from concept to delivery for assigned projects/programs/service lines. This includes planning, researching, writing and editing as well as working collaboratively and effectively with internal and external resources (designers, customers, vendors, etc.) throughout the project life cycle to ensure each project is delivered on time, within budget and meets the customer’s expectations and hospital’s quality standards.
        • Effectively communicate project background, goals and strategies to both marketing support staff as well as service line contacts to ensure collaboration and to fully implement successful projects and marketing initiatives.
        • Ensure signed consents are collected and filed.
        • Ensure appropriate use of branding messages and consistent use of all Mercy logo marks to ensure Mercy brand is always presented in a manner consistent with the organization's values, branding guidelines and strategies.
        • Manage Mercy's style guide, ensuring it is up-to-date with AP Style and compatible with Mercy brand standards.
        • Manage photo shoots as needed.
        • Identify stakeholders and receive required approvals.
        • Manage vendor relationships including freelance writers and photographers.
        • Support process improvement for departmental functions and contributes to the maintenance of departmental media and asset libraries and archival system; as well as project production cycle standards.

      • Strong interpersonal and exceptional customer-service skills; ability to work effectively with both internal staff and service-line customers to execute final projects.
      • Ability to listen and interpret feedback and constructively integrate it, as appropriate, to execute a final project that achieves stated goals and ensures satisfaction.
      • Working knowledge of AP style.
      • Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
      • Intermediate skills with operating digital camera.
      • Knowledge of the Mercy brand a plus.
      • Knowledge of social media and ability to integrate social media with communications.
      • Ability to build rapport and have solid working relationships with stakeholders in the organization.
      • Ability to build rapport with patients and physicians to receive information needed for written items.
      • Ability to establish, adhere to and respect the need for approvals from stakeholders.
      • Ability to work as a team player.
      • Ability to work independently, looping in manager as needed.
    • Professional Experience
      • Required: Minimum 3 years previous experience in similar position that demonstrated multiple types of writing including at an executive-level, experience managing a publication, and previous experience involving project/account management and creative experience.
      • Preferred: 5 years previous experience.
      • Healthcare experience a plus.
    • Education
      • Required: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or Marketing
