  • Position Summary

    The primary purpose of the Continuing Education and Corporate Training Manager is to develop, manage and evaluate Continuing Education and Skills for Success training programs for the Workforce Development Department and oversee and manage instructors in a diverse range of training programs. The position is responsible for the planning, recruiting, staffing, and reporting for Skills for Success training programs as well as for continuing education activities. Will develop, promote, and provide on a semester basis non-credit seminars, workshops, and short-course opportunities which also includes Skills for Success in a flexible format, time frame and setting to meet the identified community/service area education, training and personal enrichment needs.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    DUTIES:


    • Manage the daily operations of Continuing Education.
    • Coordinate the activities offered and supervise instructors.
    • Identify target markets, assess needs, establish marketing strategies and develop action plans for each population identified.
    • Develop and/or coordinate non-credit seminars, workshops, and short courses to serve the needs of program participants within the scope of each program.
    • Work within the community to determine needs for professional development activities; including those earning CEUs, develop/ offer educational opportunities in needed areas.
    • Responsible for collaborating with Gadsden State Public Relations Department in the creation and production of promotional materials and newsletters to be used for the recruitment/retention of participants.
    • Work closely with the deans, academic directors, division chairs; coordinates with the learning resources, ATN, Skills Training and the public media to ensure quality of educational activities to create an annual schedule of class offerings, and regularly update the schedule as needed.
    • Actively seek recruiting opportunities/speaking engagements for the dissemination of information about programs offered in an effort to increase awareness and to encourage utilization.
    • Provide resources and assistance to the community through services to the public, business, industry, and governmental agencies.
    • Prepare and manage budgets for Continuing Education.
    • Responsible for scheduling and managing Continuing Education and Skills for Success non-credit workforce education instructors.
    • Lead in recruiting and outreach efforts on behalf of the Workforce Development department to promote short-term training programs and generate interest.
    • Collaborate with the Coordinator of Workforce Development and Director of Skills Training to document student, instructor, and class information that is needed for reporting.
    • Attend lab days for Skills for Success and regularly monitor class progress by making unannounced visits to all classes.
    • Conduct him/herself in a professional manner and exhibit a positive image for the College.
    • Coordinates enrollment procedures with respect to student application for skills for success admission, data entry, clearing of students for enrollment in the college, correspondence related to admissions inquiries, registration and enrollment activities and student records management.
    • Ensures compliance and confidentiality of academic records in accordance with FERPA, college policies, state, and federal regulations.
    • Process all certificates for designated skills for success programs.
    • Responsible for highlighting students’ success on social media platforms.
    • Assists with the management and integrity of non-credit OneACCS student systems, such as Banner, Canvas, and Elevate.
    • Assist with maintaining the Skills Training Division database of designated skills for success participants.
    • Develop strong partnerships and collaborate with ACCS Innovation Center, all departments, divisions, and personnel on campus to ensure consistency and continuity of all skills for success registration and records processes college wide.
    • Attends and participates in conferences, workshops, meetings, and trainings.
    • Complies with all policies of the State Board of Trustees, Alabama Community College System, and the College.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:


    • Two (2) years of postsecondary education with a minimum of 15 semester hours in related coursework required.
    • Three (3) years of experience in a related position required.
    • Knowledge of technical education and/or corporate training preferred.
    • Experience or training in marketing/public relations preferred.
    • Experience in Canvas, Banner and Elevate preferred.
    • Experience with non-credit programs preferred.
    • Knowledge of Skills for Success programs and procedures preferred.
    • Friendly personality; enthusiastic, positive attitude; evidence of trustworthiness and ethical conduct; effective human relations skills; strong work ethic.
    • Commitment to the teaching-learning process of the community college and the open-door admissions process. Ability to work well with diverse populations.
    • Involvement in school and community activities.
    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of advanced word processing, including merge functions, database, and spreadsheet (Computer Level II Exam).
    • Working knowledge of office procedures, general office procedures, GSCC procedures, composition, machine transcription, and records management (Office Procedures Level II Exam).
    • Ability to keyboard at a minimum of 40 correct (net) words per minute for 3 minutes.
    • Ability to make decisions in accordance with regulations and apply them to work problems.
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
    • Ability to learn assigned tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routines.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with career centers, industry partners, other employees, and the public.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of office information.

    SALARY:
    Salary Schedule E-3, Grade 04 – $38,979 - $56,128, based on previous full-time and related experience, as submitted by the candidate in the application packet, subject to verification upon hire.
