Job Summary: Assists the executive director of special education in overseeing and implementing the district’s special education program; coordinates the activities of all special education personnel.
Salary: Grade 8, ($84,669.52 - $116,903.28, depending on experience)
Work Day: 8 hours per day
Work Year: 12 months
Bargaining Unit: Non Represented
Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a State of Alaska Teaching Certificate with a special education endorsement or a Type C certificate.
- At least five (5) years of successful school-based special education experience and at least one (1) year of successful administrative experience or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and organization to special education programs and personnel.
- Expert knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
- Experience in the supervision of staff.
- Experience in mediation and conflict resolution.
- High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
- Global understanding of special education as it relates to all phases of general education.
- Ability to work effectively with many groups of people (parents, staff, administrators, and agency personnel).
