    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Dean to lead our graduate programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the graduate school and credential programs. This role requires a leader who is passionate about educator preparation and social justice, and who can inspire faculty, staff, and students to achieve excellence.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to:
    • Oversee the management and strategic direction of the higher education department, ensuring alignment with our mission, values, and organizational priorities.
    • Enhance the quality and impact of field experiences for our students, fostering partnerships with schools, districts, and social justice organizations.
    • Promote a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and continuous improvement among faculty, staff, and students.
    • Represent Fortune School of Education in the broader educational community, establishing strategic partnerships and advocating for policies that advance social justice in education.
    • Manage budget, resources, and personnel effectively to support the department’s goals.
    • Teach graduate school coursework.
    • Hire, assign, and train faculty and staff in the School of Education.
    • Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to the faculty and staff.
    • Lead Fortune’s efforts to maintain and achieve accreditation standards, working closely with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and WASC Senior University and College Commission (WSCUC) in a collaborative way that engages students, faculty, and staff across the school of education.
    • Follow regulations from the State and Federal governments to assure the program remains in compliance with laws, regulations, and the Education Code.
    • Keep compliance with the Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE).
    • Develop and monitor the program budget.
    • Meet enrollment targets for credential and graduate school programs.
    • Manage day-to-day administration of FSE’s graduate school programs.  
    • Follow the timetables to submit reports and documents to the various funding sources as required.
    • Participate with the CEO and CFO as a member of the Fundraising Committee for Fortune School of Education and all of its divisions.  


    Required Education and Experience
    • Doctorate in Education or related field.
    • Significant leadership experience in higher education administration, preferably in graduate education.
    • Experience managing teams and supervising staff.
    • Demonstrated success in managing accreditation processes.
    • A strong record of curriculum development and innovation in teacher education.
    • Commitment to social justice, equity, and diversity in education.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Proven ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.


    Working Conditions: Physical Abilities
    • Hearing and speaking to conduct group training, exchange information in person electronically and over the telephone
    • Ability to read printed material and computer screens. Ability to understand speech at normal levels
    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
    • Kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies.
    • Ability to climb stairs, bend, reach, walk, sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry 10 pounds.

    $120,000 - $150,000 a year
    At Fortune School of Education, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $120,000-$150,000 annually.
